Hello all! This coming Saturday the 16th were excited to be back at the Flat Iron for the next Dance From Above! Bringing it back home to Greensboro this month we are featuring the global ear of Jonathan Vizcuña! (Jon.Viz) @jon.viz Jonathan is an electronic music artist crafting refined, high-energy house experiences rooted in rhythm, culture, and flow. Known for his elegant mixing style and ability to build momentum with intention, his sets move seamlessly across House, Afro House, and Deep sounds, creating immersive journeys on the dance floor. As a resident of Ibiza Stardust Radio, Jonathan delivers a monthly one-hour showcase of global house music, connecting his sound with an international audience. His musical identity blends European and Latin influences with a modern electronic edge, shaping a style that is both dynamic and deeply curated. He also serves as the official DJ for Noches Latinas in Greensboro, a long-running cultural event that brings together over 1,000 attendees per night across diverse communities. While this platform highlights his versatility, his core focus remains rooted in house music, where his sound, energy, and artistic direction fully align. The trees are all collectivley reminding us that no matter how loud the noise of this world gets that we are still growing. That its ok to take a moment and enjoy the flowers, and in that spring spirit were going big with not one but TWO featured artists this month. We’re overjoyed to be turning our dance floor over to Stonie Blue and Ben Hixon. (@stonieblue_ @benhixon ) This will be Ben’s third time with us and after last years amazing double header with himself and Blaque Dynamite he’s bringing another friend and collaborator along with him, Stonie Blue! Originally from Dallas, Texas Stonie Blue has become a standout in New York’s DJ scene as a rising producer and DJ. Known for his Southern influenced production style and smooth, effortless transitions, Stonie has embraced the city’s fast paced and eclectic music culture. His sets constantly explore sounds, blending genres and pushing boundaries, which has earned him a reputation as an artist who keeps things fresh. With his ability to fuse the unexpected, Stonie Blue is someone to keep an eye on in the coming years. Ben Hixon is musician, producer, mixing & mastering engineer, and DJ from Dallas TEXAS. Currently living in Brooklyn NY. He is a co-founder of Dolfin Records and regularly collaborates with musicians, and artists from all over the world. He has worked and collaborated with many artists including Liv.e, Jon Bap(AKA MAURICE ii), Stefan Ringer, JT Donaldson, Pink Siifu, Blaque Dynamite, Lord Byron, Stonie Blue, Rami, Zach Witness, theMIND, Erykah Badu, Mick Jenkins, Jimpster, and many more. Our resident DJs will be there to keep things moving on the edges and as always we count on all of you to help us spread the word. All are welcome and we can’t wait to see you again.

On March 21st, we’re back at the Flat Iron, featuring one of our OG collaborators from way way back when we first started throwing parties up at The Crown at Carolina Theater over 10 years ago. Adam Graetz, AKA thefacesblur was our longtime live visual collaborator for years. After moving to Durham he quickly jumped into the scene there not only as a visual artist but a DJ and producer as well. Part of a number of notable Durham crews he has aided in pushing that scene to new heights and as a producer he has released music both solo and as a collaborator, most recently with another DFA favorite and close friend Marley Carroll. We are excited to have him back on our dance floor after all too long. Filling in the night are our resident DJs. Help us spread the word, we can’t wait to see you all on the 21st!

This Sunday we are excited to be back at @yokaigso with a laid back afternoon event 4-7ish with our resident djs. Entry is totally free so come out, grab dinner or a snack and a drink and we’ll see you on the patio!

After a small, much needed hiatus in January we are back and ready to dance. Let’s shake the snow off our boots and head to the Flat Iron for another Dance From Above on Saturday, February 21st at 9 pm. Welcoming 2026 with open arms we are hoping to bring an early spring despite what the ground hound says with a Marti Gras themed night. After all, we have been snowed in, cooped up and it’s time to venture out. With that being said, our resident djs will be on the decks guiding us through the night with grooves, rhythm, and jazz. We are eager to see everyone get their wiggles out that may have not come out with the sledding, snow angels, and snowmen. Bring your best masquerade outtits and see you on the floor Saturday, February 21st.

We chose to take it easy in Jannuary as this year starts to take shape and it feels as chaotic as ever so while we are busy making plans for the coming year why not have a quick look back at 2025. Once upon a time, a heated dance floor lay in wait of the joyful feeling of dancing shoes and the thump of music resonating along its surface. While the outside world may feel daunting and cold, a safe space can be found on the patio at Yokai, downtown in Greensboro. We couldnt be more excited to close another amazing year of Dance From Above Parties with the return of Defected Records DJ and Detroit legend, @iamrimarkable ! The last time we had her out, our dance floor was packed with joy all night long. Our December parties are always special to us and this year is no different. Its the perfect opportunity to shake off the weight of the year and give ourselves a chance to come together as lovers of the healing power of dance music and dance all night long. The next Dance From Above is around the corner! Join us at the Flat Iron on Saturday 15th at 9pm for another groovy night with some Mediterranean spice. We are so excited to have @uymamidj . bring the energy and culture, on top of our beloved resident djs. Once upon a time, a wise astrologer told Uymami that she had “daddy dom fight energy.” The Durham, NC-based DJ playfully channels that vibe on the floor with her signature culture clash discotheque style: spacey percussion, tech house and acid house, Jersey club and freestyle, and nostalgic pop edits in multiple languages. Her sets are often peppered with doumbek, softening the edges with disco bell and tsifteteli. She’s also responsible for your favorite White Lotus-Afrobeats mashup. Uymami has opened twice for Reyna Tropical and has played all over NC, including Hopscotch Music Festival 2025, as well as at Manhattan Virgin Hotel’s Riff Raff Club.
