Despite its name, Amnesia can never be forgotten.
With hundreds of years of history within its white walls - the last fifty of those spent dancing - here’s a look at how the scene was set in motion, ahead of our nine week residency at the club across June and July.
In the beginning…
On the land where Amnesia now stands, once lay a huge 18th-century farmhouse. In the 1950s it was converted into a finca (a traditional country house), before being taken over in 1976 by a Spanish philosopher who transformed the space into a discotheque, named El taller del olvido (“The Workshop of Forgetfulness”), with the aim of leaving your problems at the door, forgetting the outside world. Thus, Amnesia was born.
During the 1980s, Amnesia would open at 3am, running into the late afternoon. It’s during this period that the club’s reputation began to change, particularly with the advent of a young Argentinian DJ, Alfredo Fiorito, who in the 1980s was to revolutionise the image of the island with his highly eclectic sets, blurring rock with disco and early electronica.
It was into one of Alfredo’s fabled Amnesia sets in 1987 that a bunch of British DJs wandered, and left so altered that it led them to create what became probably the biggest dance culture revolution in the UK. Rave, as we know it, was formed.
Fifty years on from opening its doors, Amnesia has since become a modern day Mecca.
On June 1st, we arrive on the Island for the opening party of our nine-week residency, as KETTAMA invites Bullet Tooth, Riordan, Dr Dubplate and Angel Lee to lay the foundations for what’s set to be an unforgettable run of parties.
We hope to see you on the floor.

Over half a decade spent getting spun in dark, smoky rooms as a dubplate, Tim Reaper & Dwarde’s ‘WMD’ finally got its release last month - as the first single from his forthcoming Hazardous Material EP.
Bursting with hardcore flavour, ‘WMD’ is just a taste of what’s yet to come. Here’s how it came about…
Loods returns to Steel City Dance Discs today with the sun-kissed ‘Say That You’ll Be There’ featuring @itsmarlorex 🌴
Sydney’s very own godfather of house brings the heat once again, with warm basslines and bright, blissful melodies taking charge of this summer-ready classic.
Another hotly-tipped anthem from one of our very own. Cheers to that🥂

Clouds - Diesel Halo (Out Now)
Marking their first release of the year, @cloudstechno waste no time in picking up right where they left off - with the unfiltered hardcore hysteria of ‘Diesel Halo’.
A firm fixture of their recent sets - the track has been blowing the roof off and the walls apart for fun.

Finsbury Park in North London was once the land of pistol duels. A few hundred years later, lethal blows are still being dealt. The accuracy is no less deadly – only now, instead of looking down the barrel, you’re looking down the lane. 🎳
A former tram shed, before being converted into a cinema over a hundred years ago, Rowans Tenpin Bowl is a dimly lit maze of dance floors, karaoke booths, pool tables and arcades. With late-night bowling and DJ sets spanning until the early hours, Rowans is an institution.
Having spent many long, late nights down the lanes, we decided to throw a party back in February with DJ HEARTSTRING & friends, create some custom tees and a custom bowling ball.
At the party, we got talking to Mike, AKA Legend: a local hero who has been bowling at Rowans for over two decades.
Here’s what he had to say about it all…

Just over a year since we released Mela with the lovely folks at @dancediscs and our love for Dek Bass has only grown since!
In that time we’ve made loadsss of new friends in West Bengal and learned so much more about the sound and the people whose entire lives revolve around it.
Been mad to see Mela out in the wild and constantly pulling us back into the dek bass world. Just happy to be a very small part of this very amazing thing 🔊✅⚡️☣️
