Movement is a child’s first language.
Before they master a single step or learn to follow the music, young dancers are already learning — through every leap, spin, and freeze.
Early dance classes build:
→ Minds that think spatially and creatively
→ Hearts that learn empathy through ensemble and collaboration
→ Bodies that grow strong, coordinated, and aware
→ Confidence that carries them far beyond the studio floor
Grounded in dance education standards, what happens in DancEast’s Creative Movement and Primary Dance classes goes far beyond steps. It shapes who they’re becoming.

Move to Thrive: Mindful Movement for Body & Spirit
✨ A space to slow down, reconnect, and move with intention.
This six-week class series uses gentle, guided movement and prompts inspired by Laban Movement principles to help you connect mind and body, unwind, and listen to what your body is telling you.
Expect a supportive, low-pressure environment with optional moments for reflection and sharing.
No dance experience needed; just come as you are.
📅 Thursdays 6–7pm | May 14th – June 18th
Your guide, Maria Maggipinto, brings decades of rich movement experience — from growing up dancing in Knoxville, TN, to training in ballet and modern dance at the School of Minnesota Dance Theatre, to performing with modern companies in New York City. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a dance focus from the University of Tennessee and has taught contemporary dance in Nashville’s vibrant arts community for years.
But Maria’s passion doesn’t stop at movement. She is also a board-certified functional medicine health coach and personal trainer — which means she brings a truly holistic lens to everything she teaches. Her life’s work is creating opportunities for people to experience movement that integrates mind, body, and spirit in a way that is accessible, meaningful, and transformative.
We hope to see you there. 🌿

Your instructor, Lyle Oberman, is a dancer, choreographer, and community activist whose philosophy is as grounding as it is infectious — she describes herself as someone who dances “with her next door neighbor.” That spirit of accessibility and real human connection is woven into everything she does.
Lyle has created movement experiences for all ages — toddlers to seniors — in schools, senior centers, and studios across the country, with support from organizations like Metro Arts Nashville and the Walton Foundation. Trained at Ball State University and with prestigious institutions including American Ballet Theatre and Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, she brings serious technique wrapped in a warm, approachable, this-is-for-everyone energy.
When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her exactly where you’d expect — on a dance floor somewhere, living her best life.
Come join her. Monday nights will never be the same.

There is something truly special happening in Level 2 Ballet with Ms. Marcela. 🩰 This year, these dancers have grown in ways that go far beyond the barre — refining their technique, sharpening their musicality, and forming the kind of friendships that make dance so much more than movement. They’ve challenged their minds and bodies, filled the studio with laughter, and most recently, gathered together to sew ribbons on their flat shoes — a quiet, meaningful milestone marking the beginning of their pointe journey this fall. We are so proud of each and every one of them. ✨
✨ Another night. Another reason to be completely obsessed with the Nashville dance community.
