Prodigal.
This month across the world youth groups & schools are starting the new Alpha Youth series. A space created for all young people regardless of beliefs, background & behaviour to have a conversation about faith, life meaning & purpose. A space where it’s ok, in fact encouraged to question, foster curiosity & in a respectful way, disagree with each other.
I have many favourite moments, stories and clips from the series but this animation will always mean a lot to me. Created from Luke 15 ‘The prodigal son’ & designed in the future. The word “prodigal” generally means spending money recklessly; wastefully extravagant. Someone who is excessive in their behavior.
This was me. Not that I had much but I spent all I had in terms of time & money living for the moment, trying to find some sense of fulfilment, purpose, belonging or happiness. My emptiness was messy and my pursuit for meaning a dead end. When I heard about God’s reckless, endless love that goes beyond any mess up or stuff up I wanted to encounter & experience it for myself…..& I did.
My life has not been the same since. Not perfect and without problems but full of purpose, joy, grace & adventure. I am committed not to force my faith on anyone but hopefully live in such a way & create in such a way that anyone who is curious & wants to explore faith can in a way where they will not be judged but loved & where they will not be lectured but listened to. 🙏🏼

Hugs are the language of love, and children speak it fluently.
I have always been one to give a hug quickly but allowing the other person to be the one to pull away means the embrace can be for as long as they want. It sounds cheesy or even basic but I tried it on my boys and loved it. Now just need to try it on my wife 😂
Give someone a good hug today for as long as you can.
Hope that’s an encouragement to all the parents. Looking forward to the new Alpha Parenting course coming out in 2027.

We covered all this and more with powerhouse couple Dan and Charlie Blythe. Dan is the Global Youth Director for Alpha and Charlie is EU Director for international anti-slavery charity A21.
Parents to two young boys, they also host Yung Cubs, a parenting podcast supporting mums and dads through raw and real conversations about the day-to-day realities of raising children in our modern world.
They are passionate about living big, full lives which benefit other people - they’re constantly on the move, ‘busy’ is a banned word in their household.
Though they don’t always get it right - they want to try and see the things they do as a blessing which they can use in serving as many people as possible.
In this episode, Dan and Charlie share with genuine honesty about their story together and their heart to serve each other.
We also hear about Charlie’s lifelong challenges with epilepsy and the impact that had on their relationship, how they manage to balance family life and work, and what their vision for relationships is.
Across denominations and styles of ministry, Gen Z and Gen Alpha are searching for truth, open to Jesus, and are hungry for the gospel like never before.

Celebrating 5 years on staff with @alphayth & celebrating over 1 million young people trying the new Alpha Youth series across 123 countries.
I’m not usually one to talk or share numbers… but I am absolutely bragging on this one.
Bragging on the 200 creators who poured their hearts into the series.
Bragging on the 80+ Alpha Youth staff across the world who consistently go the extra mile to help local youth groups run Alpha.
Bragging on all the youth leaders (full time, part time, volunteer) running it in schools, villages, towns & cities across the nations. A group of 5, 50 or 500 it’s worth it for the ONE.
The stories we’re hearing bring life to the stats captured. Everyone has worked hard, but what is happening in schools & youth groups right now feels deeply significant. After 20 years in youth ministry I haven’t seen this before. The world will label youth ‘the anxious generation’ yet their anxiety is not stopping their evangelism. In a loving way they are sharing faith respectfully in words and action.
I see ‘the unashamed generation.’
The first photo in this carousel is with Charlie Crump who is doing a quality job leading Alpha Youth across Europe & the Middle East. I share this because I met Charlie when he was 15 at a youth event. Since then many people of all ages have encouraged him, empowered him & prayed for him…This is youth ministry. If everything we do is for the ONE then the future is not in our hands but in God’s.

Celebrating our little lad today, he is creative, compassionate, courageous & kind. Grateful for all our friends & family that have encouraged him over the years. We couldn’t do the parenting journey without our community.
