MEET THE LOCALS 🐋🦈 🐢 (of the Galápagos)
Galápagos is one of those places, you can’t really name ‘the ONE’ hero underwater species that you’ll be diving with.
And to be honest, it’s been hard to name this expedition for this reason, since we usually centre our expeditions around one creature or experience, but for this expedition it would sound like: “Freedive with … sharks, sea lions, marine iguanas, eagle rays, sea turtles…”.
And so instead, we invite you to play ‘Galápagos Bingo’ just because in one week, you can see SO much underwater.
Here’s a snapshot of some friends you’ll likely see (underwater only, we don’t have all day 😉):
🦭 Galápagos Sea Lions: our personal favourite. Curious, playful, zero respect for personal space
🌊 Oceanic Blacktip Sharks: sleek, fast, often cruising the drop-offs and current lines
🦈 Galápagos Sharks: large, confident apex predators, often seen patrolling in groups
🔨 Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks: spooked easily, we consider a rare and special sighting, no matter the day
🪽 Spotted Eagle Rays & Mobulas: Angelic, effortless creatures
🦎 Marine Iguanas: the only sea-foraging iguana on Earth (still blows our minds)
🐢 Green Sea Turtles: cruising, resting, found in a lot of our dive sites
🐬 Dolphins: fly-bys, bow rides, or full-on show-offs (commonly bottlenose, common & spinner species)
🐠 Bait Balls: who doesn’t love mermaiding through a giant schools of fish
(See the bonus rarer species in the comments)
✨ Important note:
And whilst we jest, we recognise these islands are not a zoo. We never bait, chase or force any interactions. Each day brings with it a completely unique set of interactions, experiences and lessons, and we’re grateful for every single encounter that comes our way (even a puffer fish, IYKYK). Credit to

@danabjarner for your incredible footage.
