A single element in the landscape can be more powerful than it looks. A shaded bench, placed with intention, becomes a pause in someone’s day. A trail crossing promotes movement across barriers and connects people and places. A softscape turf plaza, shaped for comfort, provides flexible opportunities for gathering.
Week 4 of Landscape Architecture Month is "Action Through Impact". Sometimes big impact can be as small as one element of the landscape that can support someone's mental health, encourage physical activity and foster social connection.
Everyday life is better when landscapes are designed to create lasting impact.

Last weekend, our team joined the @minneapolisparks Earth Day Cleanup at Lake Hiawatha and got to work along the shoreline. 🌿
Chuck showed off his impressive balance to remove a piece of trash from the water and in total, our group cleaned up 110 pounds of trash. Andrew single-handedly collected 16lbs!! We are grateful for these waterways and green spaces in our city, and the collective effort it takes to care of them. ❤️

Action through learning is rooted in curiosity.
We learn by listening first, through community engagement that asks what people truly need, not just what we assume. We learn by teaching and sharing knowledge in university classrooms while being just as inspired by the next generation of designers. We learn through mentorship and internships, where ideas move in every direction, not just top down. And we learn by stepping outside our own perspectives through travel, research, and studio exchanges that stretch and build on our ideas.
We believe the best solutions come from staying curious and always learning, together.

We're kicking off World Landscape Architecture Month #WLAM2026 by highlighting landscape architecture in action at Loring Green Condominiums!
One of the project’s many transformative elements included the renovation of the existing pond. By lowering the pond from its original 5‑foot mound down to grade, we created a more accessible and welcoming experience for residents and their guests. Created in collaboration with the water feature artist, @pondkingwatergardens , the new design invites visitors to engage directly with the water’s edge and features a multi-tiered waterfall seamlessly integrated into the slope.
From early ideation and concept sketches to detailing and construction administration, this feature represents landscape architecture in action from start to finish! We’re so proud of how it came together and can't wait to highlight more collaborative & impactful work throughout the rest of World Landscape Architecture Month!
From waterfronts to civic plazas and neighborhood parks, our work is designed to bring people together, strengthen community identity, and create places people are proud to call their own.
The most memorable public spaces become the heart of a community. We believe they grow from curiosity, collaboration, and a genuine care for people and place.

Defined by wide roadways and expansive parking lots, Crystal’s Town Center is reimagined as a walkable downtown district anchored by Becker Park and a future Blue Line light rail station. Informed by robust community engagement, the vision plan establishes guiding principles and a phased framework for incremental infill, green streets, and a cohesive public realm. By breaking down superblocks into human-scaled blocks, expanding tree canopy and pervious landscapes, and prioritizing walking, biking, and transit, the plan reduces long-term car dependence while shaping a vibrant civic center and a distinctive sense of place rooted in Crystal.
It was a pleasure to work with the City of Crystal and Hennepin County creating a vision for their new Downtown District!
