I'm happy to share this mural I recently painted for the @flyingboxcars minor league baseball team in Hagerstown, MD.
Also honoured to receive this award for my mural last year in Fort Wayne, IN.
Thanks to @hagersfest and the @national_mural_awards for bringing it all together. It was great working with you and meeting the other artists you invited. @cstanleycreative@devonastimpson@sophytuttle
March 26, 2021 — in the middle of the pandemic, artist Damian Mitchell painted the iconic Surfish turtle mural 🐢🎨
Now, celebrating 15 years of Surfish, we turned this beautiful piece into a limited-edition T-shirt 👕🔥
A collaboration born in Brooklyn… inspired by the ocean, resilience, art, and community.
What started as a mural became part of Surfish history.
Thank you @DamienMitchell for creating something so special 💛

A professional mural artist for over 15 years, Damien Mitchell creates large-scale works on structures as tall as eight stories and spanning the length of city blocks. Prominent clients in over 30 countries have commissioned his art, yet his murals capture deeply personal stories, highlighting the souls of individuals through his unique and expressive style.
Damien says, “The Outlaw Ocean Mural Project helped open my eyes to the brutal realities experienced by those working at sea. There were many parts of the book that affected me, but the low value placed on the lives of the seafarers was particularly striking. I consider myself lucky to be able to create art and use it as a way to synthesize my thoughts and express my emotions. I was fortunate to participate in this project, which allowed me to address a gut-wrenching topic.”

I'm very proud to reveal my largest project to date. This mural is located on the Electric Works campus in the former GE factory in Fort Wayne, IN.
A huge thanks to Electric Works, the Elex, AMP lab, everyone who fed and housed me during the 33 day install.
Extra special thanks to the amazing assistance I got from Bernadette, Chrystel and Hannah. The indomitable Vince Ballantine, Alex and JJ for organising and everyone else that helped make this project possible.
This video was shot and edited by Jeffrey Crane who has a fantastic eye for watching paint dry.
