Yesterday, at #MentorshipwithHS, we spoke about developing deep friendships amongst Christian women. Sometimes, as deep, strong Christian women, we sometimes power through life as though we are the Saviors and do not need a Saviour. The nurturer/warrior/motherly instinct combined with the GoodGirlGospel is one lethal combination!
As Christian women, when we see “discernment,” we may hear “suspect everyone,” we see strength as not needing to rely on anyone and “guard your heart” as “don’t let people in.” So we carry on, forging through life pretending to be whole, performing for a pseudo audience, saying yes when the very fabrics of our beings say no and refusing to be carried when our legs hurt.
Every once in a while, God sends people who choose to look beneath our masks and speak to our souls. That’s where Damilola came in. We may not speak everyday and maybe I don’t post her as much because she’s not exactly the social media (or picking calls type🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️) but when we do, the conversations are real, refreshing, healing, transformative and inspiring.
I became their little sister; she and Adenike. Adenike is the active, in-your-face, can-never-break-down-around- me sister, Dami is the at-your-back, building-a-full system-around-me sister. I see them as a pair that I really love. You, Dami, are a rock. You are strength wrapped in a woman body and God in female form. I hope you know that you’re inspiration on two feet and love in human form.
Your heart towards everyone is loud, it is large and it is life. You are the sweet mix of prophecy, discernment, articulation and wisdom. Grounded in your own, willing in your mind and open in your heart. Your ability to learn, to listen, to open up and to thrive is beautiful to see. You don’t say so much but you hold up space, you let me shine and you fan my flame.
On this day of your 40th, I celebrate our deep, real and true sisterhood. Thank you for holding me in my most vulnerable, breaking with me and praying for me.
I’m grateful for you and I pray that it is onwards from now on. Life answers to you like it answers to Christ.

Adenike mi omo Jesu, today marks 20 years of victory, and I just want you to know how deeply inspiring your life is to me and to everyone who knows your story. Twenty years ago, cancer tried to define you, but it failed my love, because you rose with courage, resilience, and an unshakable will to live.
You lost a leg, but you never lost your strength, your joy, your purpose, or your light. You are living proof that survival is not just about staying alive, but about choosing to live fully, boldly, and beautifully.
Watching you thrive has taught me what real strength looks like, what holding on to God looks like and what loving wholeheartedly looks like.
