An emotional day at Dublin Adult Learning Centre as our SNA Class of 25/26 finished their final class together
There were lots of hugs, laughs, tears, and heartfelt goodbyes as this incredible group celebrated the end of their journey together. What a wonderful class they’ve been — supportive, dedicated, and full of kindness from day one.
A very special thank you goes to their amazing tutors, Róisín and Louisa, who were absolutely adored by the group throughout the year. The class even surprised them with a beautifully printed card and poem (with a little help from ChatGPT 😉).
We are so proud of every single learner as they take up work in their local community. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you all.
Congratulations, SNA Class of 25/26 🎓

Bualadh bos mór don rang Gaeilge! Bhí siad ag siopadóireacht. Bhí siad tharr barr👏🏼
Well done to the Irish class. They went shopping. They were great.
If you’d like to learn a few words of Irish, join our Irish class on Tuesday mornings 9.30-11am - it’s the liveliest, rowdiest class on the schedule in DALC! Great fun, fast learning in a warm, understanding environment! The múinteoirí, Daisy & Sonia, are amazing!
To join the class, just call us or drop into 3 Mountjoy Square.
How well do you really know the North Inner City?
Join us at 11am on Tuesday 3rd March for the launch of ‘Off The Beaten Path’. Our students have worked on this project, gathering lesser known stories from the alleyways and laneways of our neighbourhood.
We have a gorgeous trifold map, illustrated by Fuchsia MacAree, and the map contains a QR code which links you to an audio trail guide starting at 3 Mountjoy Square.
If you’re living or working in the locality and want to find out quirky facts and hidden histories from our area, this is a brilliant chance to learn more!
We’re super proud of the work our students put into this project, under the guidance of Mary-Claire Hally, their tutor.
This unique project was made possible by the Adult Literacy for Life fund.
This event is held as part of AONTAS Adult Learners Festival, so feel free to join us for a cup of tea/coffee before (weather permitting of course!) we leave DALC and embark on the guided tour on Tuesday 3rd March.
As 2025 comes to an end, we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved in the past 12 months here at DALC.
This year, we were proud to participate in our Learning Neighbourhood Conference at Croke Park, sharing ideas and strengthening community learning. Our Global Citizenship Programme won an AONTAS Star Award.
Many Erasmus visitors from across Europe were welcomed to DALC, while our staff enjoyed enriching exchange visits to Norway and Crete.
Our raffles and coffee mornings raised funds for local services, including counselling supports and Hugh’s House
Tracey’s art class hosted a hugely popular art exhibition, officially opened by actor Aidan Gillen.
Above all, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff. Your dedication, kindness, and commitment creates a safe, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment where students can truly thrive.
Thank you to our learners, community partners and our Board members. Here’s to another year of learning, growth, and connection in 2026! 💫
DALC has now closed for the Xmas break. We will be back to work on Monday 5th January.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Christmas activities over the past few days!
We’re delighted to see so many people enjoying our Brunch, the Christmas raffle and the songs in the Canteen.
Huge thanks of course to the amazing staff for organizing crafting and quizzes to make those last few classes such great fun!

It was a huge honor to present the amazing students (now graduates!) of the SNA course in Mountjoy Square with their certificates!
Special needs assistants are the backbone of our classrooms. I see the impact of their work every day - supporting our children to get the best from their education and giving them a belief in themselves.
I'm so proud to have been part of such a lovely day ♥️ 🎓

Seeing an artist find their feet and find their place in an art class is amazing but seeing them get a public exhibition of their work, in a Community Centre in their own locale, where they grew up, in the environment they were inspired by……is priceless! Huge congratulations to Derek Nibbs from our ‘Wednesday Art Class’ whose works are currently on display locally in the local Community Centre! Congratulations to Derek and also to @traceylacey the woman who inspires her classes to reach further than they could have ever dreamed of before! Without tutors who believe in us, we just have wishes that are unfulfilled, but with belief in ourselves and our skills we can reach the highest goals we’d never have imagined!
