at the beginning of this term i decided we should host a pasta dinner for our friends once a week. on Sunday nights our living room filled with more and more people, every bowl we collectively owned, wine drunk from old jars, candles, and every sort of conversation. At the same time, Susanna and i committed to running regular session of our art collective, Staining Teeth. So on Wednesday nights we’d gather in the living room again, to sit on cushions on the floor and write together. And on the nights in between we found ourselves eating Momo’s beautiful birthday cakes and Chinese new year dumplings, watching projected films, drinking lateral wine, and attempting to study at a table still strewn with the mess of all this gathering. I just want to say how grateful i am for this. for standing in the hallway at 1am struggling to end conversations even though we have class at 10. for our living room being this full. for all of you.
Photos from the first ever Schmaltz & Vinegar supper club last weekend ❤️
It was like we had our own little restaurant for the night but more importantly, the room felt full. Full of people connecting, talking over baba ganoush, tiramisu, and raspberry cocktails. I think there is something magic that happens when we gather around a table.
Leeds has become so special to me through cooking and eating together these last couple months. Can’t wait for more!
thank you thank you thank you

KARRUSEL X POEM LADY
thank you @karruselfest for the chance to be a part of your fantastical world. and to everyone who asked for a poem, thank you for telling me your stories.
Assistens Kirkegård is a place I greatly adore. And so I wrote a little essay on the poplar trees, spirits, and people who live their daily lives along those paths. If you live in Copenhagen you’ll know what a special place this cemetery is and if not I’d love to introduce you! Thank you, as always, for reading

To get to be the Grønt Marked poet, sitting a stone’s throw from the tomatoes and squash, is something I’m forever grateful for.
I wrote an ode to this market and its people.
I wanted to capture the magic Grønt Marked brings to Copenhagen's city squares, the way people gather, the vital importance of the farmers and their wares.
You can read the piece on the market blog now (link in bio), and come May, you'll be able to buy a typewritten copy of the poem itself in support of the market and their sustainable agriculture missions.
Love,
Poem lady
