Last weekend to see SHED at @thesmallestgalleryinsoho
‘This exhibition features a collection of tools inherited from the artist’s grandmother - objects that define Doig’s earliest memories of childhood. From running
through the garden with her eight cousins to watering plants with her brother, these tools were the quiet witnesses to her family history.
SHED is a celebration of the tools that helped Daisy Doig’s grandmother create a beautiful garden. Doig recontextualizes these utilitarian objects; by illuminating them with her signature neon, she transforms a rustic past into a vibrant present, inviting the viewer to see the beauty in the tools that shape our lives and our memories.’
You can catch SHED everyday at 62 Dean Street, Soho, London until 10th April.

All of the tools used in SHED belong to my grandma, Doreen Doig, who sadly passed away this month.
I found this photo of her with the rake I outlined in neon and I remember this day so sharply. We had all got stuck in using all the tools from her shed to prune and work on the garden with her. It was a lovely day.
Looking back on when I first started to create SHED it’s clear I was taking all the moments in time spent with my grandma in her garden and wanting to find a way to make it last forever.
