Halfway through 2016 is when I decided to bring "Awesome, thanks" to life so I could have a place to show, share and document my artwork. It was a different world back then, and making it as an artist and getting such a wide audience to actually see your work wasn't something I ever thought could happen so swiftly. I got very lucky. I had pretty much barely made any miniatures at this point, just started out and had a small portion of things to showcase.
@dailymini took a chance, interviewed me and shared the video of my miniature Silkscreen Press on their Facebook page. It quickly started growing and growing, gaining over 5 million views. That number seems more achievable with what social media has become today, but in 2016, that was an enormous achievement and I couldn't believe it was happening to me. A number of news outlets and pages were covering my mini Silkscreen Press and it was quickly making its rounds. My account started gaining thousands of followers overnight and people were reaching out, asking me to make them artwork! It was crazy!! I never thought that people would actually want to buy stuff that I made with my own two hands like that. I couldn't believe it then and I can't believe it now. "Awesome, thanks" is going on 10 years this July, and I am still beyond grateful to Kate from
@dailymini for giving me that opportunity...she gave me my entire art career right from the jump, and I can't say thank you enough for that. It's been so wonderful to discover what "Awesome, thanks" would be over the last decade and to find myself and my art through it all, with so many incredible people that have become so important to me. So many friends made and so many life changing opportunities I've taken part in because you've all allowed me to share my work for the last 10 years. I've got a lot of (maybe more than ever) new ideas and projects in the works for 2026 and I'm very excited, thankful and happy to show them to you as the year unravels. Thank you all for (almost) an unbelievable decade of doing this, I can't wait to look back in 2036 and see what another decade has produced! Much love to you all! Awesome, thanks! 👍💛
