مخطوطة للقرآن الكريم تعود لأواخر القرن الحادي عشر ميلادي (القرن الخامس هجري) من شرق بلاد فارس وتظهر هنا الآية 83 من سورة المائدة بالخط الكوفي الأسود ونلاحظ إطار الآية الذهبي وعلى الهوامش زخارف تغلب عليها الرسومات النباتية وعلى وجه الخصوص سعف النخيل.

A manuscript of the Holy Qur’an dating back to the late 11th century (5th century AH) from eastern Persia. Here, verse 83 of Surat Al-Ma’idah appears in black Kufic script. The verse is framed in gold with medallions on the margins dominated by vegetal motifs, especially palmettes.

افتُتح اليوم، 9 مايو 2026، معرض «المغول العظماء: الفن والعمارة والبذخ» في متحف فرجينيا للفنون الجميلة (VMFA) في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، حيث يستمر حتى 23 أغسطس 2026.
ويضم المعرض مجموعة استثنائية من الأعمال الفنية التي تعكس فخامة الفن المغولي وثراءه الثقافي، من بينها 18 قطعة نادرة من مقتنيات مجموعة الصباح الآثارية، بإعارة من دار الآثار الإسلامية، تُبرز دقة الحرفية وروعة الإنتاج الفني في العالم الإسلامي خلال العصر المغولي.
ويأتي هذا المعرض امتداداً للحضور العالمي لمجموعة الصباح الآثارية ضمن المعارض الدولية المخصصة لفنون وثقافة المغول، بعد مشاركتها في معرض «كنوز البلاط المغولي» في متحف القصر في هونغ كونغ، والذي أُقيم من 6 أغسطس 2025 حتى 23 فبراير 2026، وقبله معرض «المغول العظماء: الفن والعمارة والبذخ» في متحف فيكتوريا وألبرت بلندن، والذي أُقيم من 9 نوفمبر 2024 حتى 5 مايو 2025.
Today, 9 May 2026, marks the opening of “The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence” at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), USA, where the exhibition will remain on view until 23 August 2026.
The exhibition presents an exceptional selection of masterpieces reflecting the magnificence and cultural richness of Mughal art, including 18 rare objects from The al-Sabah Collection, on loan from Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, highlighting the extraordinary craftsmanship and artistic legacy of the Islamic world during the Mughal era.
This exhibition continues the international presence of The al-Sabah Collection in major exhibitions dedicated to the art and culture of the Mughal world, following its participation in “Treasures of the Mughal Court” at the Hong Kong Palace Museum (6 August 2025 – 23 February 2026), and earlier at “The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence” at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (9 November 2024 – 5 May 2025).
“طراز” من الصوف والكتان نرى عليه بالخط الكوفي الأسود “الرحمن”، وهو جزء من بسملة غير مكتملة. الطراز هو شريط على نسيج يحتوي على زخارف أو كتابات، ويوضع عادة على الأثواب أو الملابس. تبعث كهدايا إلى النخبة وكبار شخصيات البلاط.
بالنظر لطبيعة هذه القطعة بالتحديد من المرجح أنها تعود للقرن التاسع ميلادي ومن ورش البهنسا في مصر.

LNS 58 T A “Tiraz” of wool and linen with the word “Al-Rahmam” (The Merciful) in black Kufic script, part of an incomplete bismillah. A “Tiraz” is a band on textile containing animal or floral motifs as well as inscriptions. They are commonly placed on robes or garments. It was presented as gifts to honor elites and members of the court.
This particular piece dates back to the 9th century CE and most probably originated from the workshops of Bahnasa in Egypt.

افتُتح معرض «غبار الزمن الذهبي» في متحف قانسو الإقليمي في الصين في 27 أبريل 2026، حيث يضم ١٣٣ قطعة أثرية مميزة من مقتنيات مجموعة الصباح الآثرية، تجسد دقة الحرفية وثراء الإرث الثقافي عبر العصور، وتروي تاريخ تحف تعود إلى الشرق القديم من الألفية الثالثة قبل الميلاد وحتى الحقبة الساسانية في إيران قبيل بزوغ الإسلام.
المعرض مستمر حتى 27 سبتمبر 2026.
Participation of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah in China.
The exhibition Golden Dust of Time opened at the Gansu Provincial Museum in China on 27 April 2026, presenting 133 distinctive artifacts from The al-Sabah Collection. These works highlight the precision of craftsmanship and the richness of cultural heritage across time, featuring treasures from the ancient Near East dating from the third millennium BCE to the Sasanian period in Iran, on the eve of the rise of Islam.
The exhibition is open until 27 September 2026.
يعود تاريخ هذه المخطوطة القرآنية المزخرفة، إلى أواخر القرن السادس عشر الميلادي، من منطقة الدكن في الهند تحديدا. كُتبت بخط المحقق، ورُسمت صفحاتها باللونين الأزرق والذهبي داخل مربعات برتقالية وذهبية. وتظهر فيها زخارف نباتية، مع وجود أزهار ذهبية بين الآيات. نرى على هذه الصفحة تحديدًا سورة الإسراء (الآيات 87-88). وتحمل المخطوطة توقيعًا: "نُسخت بواسطة أضعف عباد الله، وأقل خلقه قدرة، عبد القادر الحسني الحسين".

Dating back to the late 16th century from Deccan, India, this illuminated Qur'an manuscript is written in muhaqqaq with blue and gold within orange and gold ruled panels. Floral motifs are evident with gold rosettes between verses. This specific folio shows surat al-Isra' (verses 87-88). The object includes the signature: "copied by the feeblest of God's worshipers, the least able of God's creatures, 'Abd al-Qadir al-Hasani al-Husayn.

قطعة مصنوعة من العاج تعود إلى القرن السادس عشر الميلادي، من الهند. يتميز الوعاء وغطائه بنقوش مضلعة. يحيط بها النقش الكوفي "يا قاضي الحاجات، يا كافي المهمات"، وهو دعاء يُستعان به في أوقات الشدة للتضرع إلى الله تعالى أن يُعين على تلبية الاحتياجات المادية أو المعنوية ولتحقيق الأهداف. وكان هذا النوع من الجرار العاجية يُستخدم للتخزين أو للزينة.

This elephant ivory lidded vessel dates back to the 16th century and is from India. Both the body and the lid are fluted. The kufic inscription around the object reads: "O Fulfiller of needs. O Supplier of goals," which is a short dua' (prayer) used during times of hardship to call upon God to help provide material or emotional needs and achieve goals. This type of ivory urn was used for storage or as a decorative tool.

قصاصة من نسيج حريري مؤلف من سلسلة أشرطة افقية متكررة. تتضمن بعض الأشرطة خراطيش تحتوي على كتابات بخط الثلث نصها: "اليمن الدائم العز القائم". تبرز عدة ألوان في هذه التحفة منها الأسود والأزرق الداكن، بينما تتزين زخارف الارابيسك بالذهبي والأبيض والزهري. تظهر كذلك تصورات حيوانية باللون الأخضر والأبيض على خلفية زهرية. تعود هذه القطعة للقرن الرابع عشر وتحديدا من أسبانيا، حيث تطغى الدلالات المعمارية لقصر الحمراء على هذا النمط من الأنسجة.

A fragment of a silk panel with geometric and zoomorphic friezes arranged in vertical bands containing cartouches with inscription in thuluth that reads: "rising glory and perpetual happiness." Several colors are prominent here including black and dark blue, while the arabesque motifs are adorned with gold, white, and pink. There are repeated animal figures in green and white against a pink background. The object dates back to the 14th century Spain, as evident by the design that closely represents elements of architectural decorations of Alhambra Palace.

Folio of a Qur'an manuscript of surat al-Ankabut verse 46, dating back to the 14th century. Written in large black muhaqqaq, with panels above and below the text containing inscriptions from surat al-Waqi'a reading "certainly this is an honoured Qur'an, a book well protected, which none shall touch except the purified, it is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds".
