“I scroll and hours fold over themselves,
minutes stretch like rubber bands,
bending around the edges of my mind.
familiar and unfamiliar faces appear and disappear,
The algorithm of my design
Keeps me from doing anything but consume
snippets of lives i want for myself too
each scroll evoking a whisper of comparison.
and yet I can’t stop.
maybe it’s hope, maybe it’s habit, maybe it’s both.
Thus my chest aches in a weird way
like crushing under the weight of
layers of accumulated dried up tears
That drown my lungs when I cry on the inside.
a strange kind of echo that refuses to leave.
Time is ticking, moving fast for everything but me. Yet in the stillness I feel the faint beats
Of a new life forming in a cocoon
And I know that I’ll be okay
But I don’t know if I can carry this anymore
It’s a strange kind of emptiness… hollow, but heavy!”
