Wow… my chiso hot koji oil and Christine @dadamarketechopark are taking me into a whole new chapter✌️.
I’m opening Chiso Cafe at Dada Echo Park this Saturday, May 16th 🌟
Japanese food in the States is often treated as high-end cuisine, but for many of us growing up in Japan, the real foundation was our moms’ cooking at home. Japanese home cooking is always evolving — inspired by books, TV, friends, tradition, different cultures, curiosity, budget, and everyday life.
Japanese food has always mixed influences from Chinese, Korean, Indian, Italian, and more. We love adapting flavors and making them personal. That spirit is the heart of home cooking🍡🍡🍡
At Chiso Cafe, I want to bring my own family flavors and food experiences to the table — a more everyday feeling of Japanese cooking :)) awww this got way too long… anyway, please come visit us! It’s a 3-month pop-up… but who knows 👀
Open 8pm -3pm Wed - Sunday and We’re gonna dance this Saturday 16th 5-9pm to celebrate :)))
And thank you to everyone who has supported me — you know who you are 🙏 Hope to see you there ! 👽🛸🛸🛸😝
GRAND OPENING MAY 16TH - Introducing CHISO CAFE, a new culinary destination bringing a distinct vision of Japanese home-style cooking to the DADA MARKET window in Echo Park.
THE CREATIVE FORCE
Kiki Kudo, the creative force behind Chiso, has spent a career merging the worlds of music production and culinary arts. Originally from Yokohama, Japan, Kiki’s experimental approach began in New York City with artistic meals for friends, eventually leading to a residency at NYC’s Dimes Deli. It was there she debuted her signature Vegan Bento Jar-an avant-garde creation of beautifully layered food that earned a cult following for its clean, vibrant flavors and modern approach.
A TRANSCONTINENTAL PARTNERSHIP
In 2025, after a period in the Connecticut countryside, Kiki relocated to Los Angeles with her husband, musician and visual artist Brian Close. As the visionary behind Chiso’s design, Brian has shaped a unique visual identity that perfectly mirrors Kiki’s culinary and sonic innovation.
THE MENU
Driven by a desire for the healthy convenience foods of her home country, Kiki launched Chiso Cafe to offer clean, gut-friendly flavors to the LA community. A cornerstone of the kitchen is the cult-favorite Chiso Hot Koji Oil, featured prominently at DADA MARKET. This complex Japanese heat condiment is integrated into many of the cafe’s signature items.
