Master of Science in Information Technology Management. Only by God’s grace & mercy. What a journey.
I was seven with a pencil in my hand and a vision in my head. I drew comic strips and sold them to classmates. I painted scripture on canvas and sold them at church. I was a little boy who saw the world differently and created from it.
By nine, I was behind a drum kit. By twelve, a bass guitar found its way into my hands. I never let it go. That bass took me around the world. Stages. Spotlights. Continents.
Then storytelling called me deeper. I wrote, produced and directed films. I studied at the New York Film Academy and the Digital Film Academy in NYC, where I was later invited back as an instructor. My films have screened on almost every continent. I’ve won awards. I’ve moved audiences to tears.
And then, while the cameras were still rolling, I went back to something that had always lived inside me. Technology. I became a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator and Data Engineer, earning multiple certifications: PMP, ITIL 4, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS, and Linux. A Bachelor’s in IT. And today, a Master’s in IT Management from WGU.
For years I’ve been trusted by some of the largest corporations in America to secure critical data and build infrastructure that keeps entire industries running. This is not just a career. It is a craft.
I am a few inches from fifty. And I feel like I am just getting started.
I still play bass at church every Sunday. I am still a filmmaker. I am a husband and the proud father of six sons.
People have tried to summarize my life. Picked specific moments and made them the headline. But you cannot footnote a whole life. My life is not a mistake. It is a masterpiece in progress.
The gifts inside you are not competing with each other. They are completing each other. You are allowed to evolve, begin again, and be great at more than one thing. The only mind that can cage you is your own.
Above everything, every stage, every set, every server, every certificate. God. His grace is the only explanation.
You are so much more than what they’ve said. You always were.
