Growing up, dreamed I was gone be a single parent and got scared and had to make sure I did not see what I saw in my dream. I always knew I wanted to show up differently. I promised myself I’d be the kind of person who had the skills to make sure every child around me felt confident and cared for—not just parents looking put together, but their kids too.
I wanted to learn how to cut, braid, and twist hair—not only for my own future children, but for friends, family, and the community. That dream never left me.
