I fell in love with running as a kid. I wasn’t especially talented at it, but that hardly mattered. The simplicity of it, the ancientness of it, the freedom it allowed me to feel—I found it to be such a beautiful thing. As I got older my interest grew. Although largely unfamiliar with the sport of cross country, I had heard that Lockhart High always had a great team under a longtime coach (in his 38th year), and had the pleasure of getting beat by some of the kids in some local races, and was inspired by a friend’s photos of cross country last year. So over the summer I decided to document Lockhart’s 2025 season, whatever that entailed, and was very grateful when Coach Hippensteel gave me his blessing. They had an extraordinary year, and it turned into a collection of photos that I’m proud and excited to share. I think it captures trying, and heartache, and joy, and the common experience of trying to find one’s place in the world.
I’d be honored if you came by to see the exhibition tomorrow upstairs at Spellerberg Projects on the square in Lockhart, 6-9 pm. 65 prints on display, and a 20 page zine for sale for $10. ⌛️

Was a real honor to get to photograph in the Yucatán earlier this month while on a documentary shoot focusing on fishing legend Jorge Ariel Angulo Tut.
Excited for people to see the beautiful film being made by @pecos_ben , @iamjessehill , @paulwithacamera , @livit_film , and the @Yeti team. Truly a story worth being told. Here’s a few selects, mix of 35mm & digital.
Many thanks @jorgepermit .
