About a year ago, I began my part 1 thesis EcoHauntology: Ghost in a Garden City. It was inspired by 1. My chance encounter with an eastern barn owl resting at my hdb window, 2. The roosting of these red-breasted parakeets along Chua Chu Kang Way. Coexistence, kinship with animals, what do they mean in an amnesiac society that so easily/readily rebuilds/demolishes/trim/cull their problems away?
4 years of juggling mind body and spirit (living off a measly 500/month scholarship, trading leisures between and during semesters for work to survive, alongside friends and family who took care of me -thank you).
It wasn't easy, but it was worth it.
