I wanted to go unnoticed with all of this. I’m a behind-the-scenes kind of person. Just the thought of putting myself out there online made me feel sick to my stomach. So when I set a goal to fight again, I wanted to keep it private. A few weeks out from this fight, people wanted to capture my journey. I ignored messages, dodged times—literally did anything to avoid the camera. Then, after one session being filmed, I came home feeling like a total imposter. I begged my husband: “No more videos. I just want to fight for me.” I was on a stacked card full of elite female fighters—women at the peak of their game, chasing big belts. Meanwhile, I knew deep down this wasn’t my path anymore. I was a mother now… not a fighter. I felt unworthy of posting my journey online. But my husband said something that changed everything: “This isn’t about the fight or being the best. It’s about showing other mums that they can still go out there and achieve things too.” I realised that in that exact moment, once again (lol) he was right. This is what holds so many mums back. Our lives are a constant battle. We’re exhausted, stretched thin, and left wondering… what’s the fucking point? But If my journey inspires even one mum to take action and fight for herself, every uncomfortable moment was worth it. I was up 20kg + I was sleep-deprived I was fouched out And everyone telling me I was too old. But I still showed up. A million times I tried talking myself out of it. A million excuses. But I told myself: “Just keep showing up.“ Because as mums, it’s so easy to lose sight of who we are. We put ourselves last. Same thing, day in, day out. And that’s exactly why we need to put ourselves first and fill our own cup sometimes. ❤️ Whitney
