Enough is enough. The Irish Times’ condescending tone toward the public needs to stop. Articles that seem aimed at wearing people down to accept the erosion of neutrality do more to alienate than inform.
Comparing concerns about national security to past attitudes toward birth control is neither clever nor persuasive. It is dismissive, implying Irish people need to be guided toward the “right” view.
People understand what neutrality means and many stand by it. That deserves respect, not caricature. Journalism should challenge power, not talk down to the public.
Forward Ireland highly recommend this online meeting on Thursday evening. All welcome.
This will be an important discussion on the relevance of Irish Neutrality, the importance of the Triple Lock and what steps we need to take to stop the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael government defying the will of the Irish people, who overwhelmingly support our Neutrality.

Very successful Pub Quiz in D7
Busy night at the the quiz organised by the Dublin 7 for Neutrality Group. A big thanks Hynes Bar on Prussia Street for hosting and particularly Mary for all her work, preparing the questions and being a brilliant quizmaster. Well done to everyone who showed up, including the unlikely named team “Backward Ireland” who not only won but donated their winnings back to the campaign.
Over €500 was raised, which will be used to strengthen the local campaign and help send out the message :
STAND UP FOR NEUTRALITY
HANDS OFF THE TRIPLE LOCK
They say history doesn't repeat itself but it certainly rhymes
What could possibly go wrong with this scenario?
Save our neutrality
Save the triple lock
FFG in total lock step on everything
MM sneers and laughs when confronted with anything that sounds like criticism of government policyband ex Taoiseach Leo there just adds fuel to the fire.. pun intended.. with his absolute contempt for anyone not living in the "big shmoke"
But sure look he is paying all the bills apparantly.
Government poloticians divide and rule in whatever way they can
But when they want our children to swell the military ranks they really won't care where they all come from urban or rural our blood is all the same colour
Senior FF TDs are questioning plans to scrap the Triple Lock. Independents are resigning over the government’s top-down leadership. Now is the time to increase the pressure. Please go to the Linktree link in our bio to send emails to Fianna Fáil and Independent TDs now.
The Triple Lock is the only law safeguarding Irish neutrality. It stops Irish governments from deploying troops outside the framework of international law (i.e., the UN) and under big power pressure. Claiming that removing it strengthens our neutrality and our sovereignty is beyond farce.
