Playing this show with my lovely lovely friend @snaodz on October 8th at thee pivotal Drongo House @drongotapes ! We survived thee college conservatory days together and I now have the JOY to welcome them on their very first foray solo to West Coast for tour, at the very first house venue to welcome me with music when I started exploring this city myself… how marvelously full circle! Plus some photos of ~The HARVEST~, tomatoes and grapes and one single fried shrimp that this abundant week of has brought me in a time of many trials. Logging off for Yom Kippur now. A bit silly of me to only mention this now, but WOW I’ve been a busy busy bee getting everything as ready as can (since this show is at OUR DEN!)... TOMORROW, FRIDAY AUGUST 29th will be such a special day... we’re bumpin’ snoots at nullspot (oh home sweet home). Doghead will be doing something strange and special, that we cooked up just for the occasion... (as we also have the tasty food I hope to share!) Many beautiful friends from near and far have come together to make this festivity something that has already stood out in my year as bright mark to keep striving for... Playing music, playing toys, helping with the house, keeping me the best of company- thank you to everyone who has helped this come together and @pawcific.productions for making another dream come true! I still haven’t read the whole libretto alongside the album yet, but I certainly spent a serene several minutes mesmerized by what I saw here. I’m so glad people have been fascinated with their story so far. I say it’s quite an enthralling cast we’ve got on our paws! (And I might be biased, if you know anything about my fursona or clown college history… but I’m also right! hehehe…) 💜🐾 It’s been surreal and Awesome to see already how much they have come to life, cheers to these critters I have cared for so dearly! We are hours away from the world cueing in to the fantastic, frilly, ~phenomenally depthful~ journey The Scholars offers to take you on: A journey I am grateful to have been riding along for the past year and change, living and breathing alongside this album as it came to live and breathe in its own right— now to be loosed into the schools of listeners swimming the whole world over! I’m blessed to have pressed my paw into this record. I contributed electroacoustic experiments and soundscap’d subtly some the initial single, Gethesmane, and I join the uproarious choir singing in Planet Desperation. From my close-knit position, I have witnessed the labor of Love and triumph of collaboration this record has been for Car Seat Headrest. Here too, I hear the ideas and learning Will and I have explored together for the last two-years-and-counting, amidst ourselves and among our pack of far-flung, spiritually inquisitive animal friends; weave themselves into another song— or several, songs such as these. (And those you’ll hear more about from me down the road ,’;0].) In being students ourselves— of Love, of Grief, of the Spirit, of the Sublime, of the Divine— we find the stories of The Scholars. I hope you learn something too, in listening. Imagine a stage, perhaps. Be a fool. . I also had the honor of collaborating with Cate Wurtz to realize the album art. She created a world that couldn’t be any more my speed with its cast of clownish misfit academics and brooding, punky jesters. I took these characters and put them in our world, playing with paper dolls in one of my most beloved sanctuaries here in Seattle and positioning them in scenery that I felt reflected some elements of their stories that the environment could tell. Here are some of those images, which you will also see composing the front & back cover of the album, as well as decorating the inside designs. My fondness and appreciation to Billis and Mateo, who made for a great team in staging and shooting all the photos we did that became a part of this immersive body of work. Being a part of this album is a joy! I hope you enjoy being a part of it too, now. Blessings and celebration! Now get to studyin’!

April 3rd, 2024, I showed up in Seattle determined to stay, but with so much unknown and uncertain. One thing for sure though, as sure as anything has ever been in my life and then some, was that I had Love and support here more powerful than I could put into words (though I’m sure they’ll be some songs about it!). A year and two days later, that love and support made itself manifest in such a significant way; it put itself in motion, filling our living room Saturday night with song & dance as our home became the home to the first entirely-animal music, furry diy house show I’ve ever known or been a part of. To host it— An honor! I am grateful to be here to put my love and support back into this environment, into these spaces and songs we are creating together. Thank you to every friend, new and familiar, who joined us in the sanctuary I have worked HARD to create and sealed the deal that the effort was worth it: With you all here, it really felt like home. A year into this new environment, and I’m so grateful to have a place that feels so full of life and vibrancy, where the seeds we’ve planted may, God-willing, continue to take root and nourish us as we nurture them. While I believe the work is worth it just to learn better how to do the work, to steward a space and phenomena like this regardless what grows, I also believe on Saturday night we did indeed get to savor a spot of the blooms which we have tended to (how fitting for the season 🌸!). And for that I am eternally grateful and reverent, and my faith in so much Good galvanized, revitalized. To THE NULLSPOT, our house— thank you for providing this roof above my head, this refuge for rejoicing and wonder and boundless, unabashed creativity. Living room, indeed. 🐾🎶🏡🪺🌈🐾

HELLO HELLO HOWDY FROM THE FOOL‼️‼️🤹 I knooooow it’s been years since I’ve posted here, but I told myself today was the right day to return, seeing as I am an April Fool… I wrote a big thing for the inaugural occasion, but one thing to know about my current life is it has been jam-packed and fast-paced, and I’ve got somewhere to be (the bar featured in the last of these jester hare photos in fact!). No time to fight the interface to format it all, nor make the decisions from such a spread of photos to catch y’all up even just a skosh. But I’ll have more to say about it on the ‘morrow!
