This piece is a big love letter to the artist @hal.fischer he was the first artist of the generation that truly inspired me in the work I create. I left that call with a lot of important take aways the most important being to never stop creating cause once you stop you can never pick it up the same again. At its core lies a specific memory: a vintage button I discovered at an antique mall in Coventry, one of the earliest pieces of gay bar memorabilia I ever found. For years, I have cherished this small artifact, holding it as a tangible link to a place and a time that defined my identity.
The piece elevates this humble object into a monument of queer subculture. By encasing to a canvas base and adorning it with heavy steel spikes, rings, and body piercings, I am physically manifesting the leather, denim, and biker aesthetic that defined the bar’s atmosphere. The sharp, aggressive hardware is not just decoration; it is a rejection of softness, a deliberate push into the raw, masculine, and underground vibe of the men’s bar scene. This is an act of reverence, transforming a discarded button into a sacred totem that honors the history, the community, and the unapologetic spirit of the Gold Coast.
