Today @subvertworld launched! Its a music platform co-operatively owned by its community, which makes me a founding member and co-owner. This is the beginning of musicians stepping forward to present new, collectively minded solutions to the conglomerates stealing our money, controlling the algorithms, and in some cases far worse (investing in AI drone warfare from the profits of your streams).
To celebrate the launch, I have just uploaded my first solo album released since @zonawatusa 2017 and @opaltapes 2017.
It is not what you might expect musically, a sort of homage to the library synth records that I love, dedicated to the dense woodland, river mists, stone ruins, and folklore apparitions of the Wye Valley where I grew up.
A return to noisy fucked up rave contradicitons will follow in due course, of course š

Digging deep into my digital crates (since all of my vinyl is still in the UK filling whole rooms in my mum's house lol sorry mum). Will reach into the realms of 80's UK street soul, blissed-out outsider house, fizzy peripheral vision acid bubbles, a sprinkling of industrial synth pop like Fad Gadget to gently prod at the juxtaposition of the wine bar rooftop, and most definitely a rewind (or two) on this completely, utterly beautiful Lisa Tomlins & Lord Echo track from 2019.
FA009: Nadī - AKIKA
Bristol-based @daytimers_uk affiliate @nadi_bpm arrives on Funky Adjacent with three bold tracks fusing dark and vibrant energy.
Akika is a tradition of giving charity and thanks after a baby is born in Islam. With the AKIKA EP, Nadī aims to give thanks and appreciation, and provide blessings and wishes for a good future.
Dub Train is a leftfield, chugging roller driven by a woozy bassline and a loose-limbed rhythm, threading together conga and djembe drums, techno-dancehall motifs and flashes of hoover synth.
Pineapple Punch (featured here) is built around arresting basslines shaped in a studio session between Nadī and @iyaalu_ . Anchored by a unifying pad, the track weaves together the beat of a talking drum with mesmerising vocals, flutes and crisp shakers.
Birdsong delivers an off-kilter groove laced with warped bird calls, a UK-rooted bassline and grimy claps.
