After a stellar and intimate show at The Russian House in Fitzroy, DC and I spoke about what happens when an artist passes, @p.h.f , and how he got his start in music.

This is the song that started it all. The title track. The mission statement for this shaggy beast of an album 💖
This song is about the false but unfortunately common belief that artists deserve to die young. I wrote it after seeing the way that media and some people in the public reacted to the deaths of two close friends of mine who died young and then had their wonderful, rich and multifaceted lives portrayed as a “tragic artist death” that many are too willing to accept as a given and move on from.
This song fights back against the cruel idiocy of that idea. It honours my friends by showing that being an artist in a tumultuous world is a brave act. A celebration of life not a courting of death.
So with that in mind. This song is for Reuben Winter and Adison Whitley. Two of my older brothers in music, who were wise and kind enough to show me who I am, and who both left us way too soon. I love you guys.
It means a lot to have this one out.

This one was a risk. I think I often hide behind being a pretty hectic live performer, and most of the time what people remember from my shows is me sweating and screaming or hanging from the rafters 🤪
But I believe in these songs. And sitting down, playing them in this beautiful setting, with beautiful people, and having such a beautiful audience lock in and listen has renewed my faith in this project!!!! 💖💖💖
