Plato’s Spectacle (2025) by Cyra & Aryc We live in Plato’s cave, a careful architecture of an illusive world where man is both the performer and the consumer of its own existence. Here are two characters; the prisoner, and the puppeteer. Behind the prisoner, a puppeteer glues fire-shaped cardboards on sticks, projecting them to the cavern walls using the glow of the actual fire that kept the puppeteer warm as the prisoner froze to its death when the seasons pass. And still, the prisoner enters the illusion willingly — mistaking surveillance for service and security. The puppeteer sustains the prisoner’s entertainment, as the prisoner sustains the puppeteer’s glory. The spectacle on the cavern walls is a product that feeds the prisoners with images that shape its desire and dictate fear. The puppeteer on the other hand commodifies its captives’ perceptions —almost a parasitic relationship that keeps both of its worlds in rotation. Except one is unaware of its fiction; and the other blind to its captivity from its own performance. #explore #film #filmmaking #cinematography #horror
