Happy October 1st everyone!!! Halloween is here-ish….eh, close enough. To celebrate I wanted to offer 50% OFF all prints in my Etsy shop. As always, I appreciate every purchase and all the support for my spooky art ☠️🖤☠️
I can see those leavings falling and feel that chill fill the air. Halloween approaches, so let Drawlloween guide us there…
It’s that time again for the annual creative challenge based upon the (literal) best holiday of the year….DRAWLLOWEEN. 31 prompts for 31 days throughout October-ish.
Last year’s challenge was a struggle for me and life hasn’t gotten any quieter since then. So I have created a “short” Drawlloween list that I will be following. Similar prompts but with a lighter cadence.
As always, I look forward to seeing how Instagram comes alive at this time of the year. There is so much dark art created that it warms(chills) the soul.
Stay spooky ☠️🖤☠️
All setup at the Oddities & Curiosities Expo (@odditiesandcuriositiesexpo ) in Chicago. I’ll be here both Saturday and Sunday with prints, books, stickers, canvases, and even originals. Stop by and we’ll chat all things spooky. 🖤☠️🖤
Had the honor of working with Laura Keating (@lorekeating ) and Cemetery Gates Media (@cemeterygatesm ) to create this cover drawing for her upcoming horror book “The Truest Sense”. This spooky collection of terrifying tales will be available on June 11. The link to pre-order will be going live soon, so be sure to add it to your dark collection.
12 years ago I posted this tiny sketch of a skull on Instagram. It was my first ever post on social media. It was the first time I had drawn in several years. And little did I know it was the first of many drawings to come.
12 years ago. Damn.
That post led me down a path of creativity. A path to discover out who I was as an artist. It led me to creates hundreds if not thousands of drawings.
There were drawings I’m insanely proud of and numerous that I’m embarrassed to look at today. I created merchandise of my work for those wanting to take it home, which is deeply humbling and still to this day very surreal. I had opportunities to work with amazing people on piles of commission projects and to be honest, I dropped the ball on more than a fair share of projects that I committed to. I met so many of you at conventions and art festivals. We had deep conversations about art, life, death, and the struggles in between.
A lot has changed over the past 12 years. There were ups and there were downs. For some unknown reason I thought I’d get to a place where I had all of it figured out. A place where art and drawing came easy for me. Only to discover that life doesn’t work that way.
As an artist you put parts of yourself into everything you create. You put it out there for the world to see. To love. To hate.
We’re not looking for validation, we’re just hoping for those parts of us to be seen.
I want to thank each and everyone person that has supported me on this creative journey. For every like, comment, share, conversation, purchase, tattoo, redraw and story shared.
Thank you for seeing me.
Stay spooky…
Got my copies of “Kindergarten” from @shawncoss and @anymeansnecessaryclothing today!!! The book turned out really great. If you don’t own a copy of your own, head over to their accounts and grab one now. ☠️🖤☠️
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! 🎃🖤🎃 Want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support of my art throughout the years. I see every like, comment, share, purchase, and even tattoo….thank you. Have fun (and stay safe) out there this evening on our spookiest of nights.
More Drawlloween is coming, I promise. Life is just busier these days so it’s going to take me a bit to cross the finish line. But a huge congrats to all of you that took on this creative challenge with me.
🖤 STAY SPOOKY 🖤
