Took a pass through the family albums this Mother’s Day, feeling nostalgic and missing mom. I always loved this picture of my parents. It occurs to me they were taking selfies before selfies were a thing. Mom always was a little ahead of her time
And a little mischievous. She talked with great pride about being related to the first woman to run for president (Victoria Woodhull…who was also the first woman to run a brokerage house in NYC) even though it was considered quite scandalous at the time. She was an early adopter of organic/whole foods - so you can guess none of our friends wanted to come to our house for snacks. And she did a trip to Europe on her own when I was in HS. A solo traveler before it was a trend.
Back when I did 40:20 Vision and spent a lot of time sharing advice between generations I captured some of my mom’s advice… this one is a fave drop of motherly wisdom:
“There is more than one way to live a life. Enjoy the journey and make room in your life for surprises.”
I’m still making room for surprises- thanks to mom:)
Spending the weekend with two of my fave dads..my dad and brother! Much laughing, hiking and a margarita toast to them being one of few father and sons inducted into the National Academy of Sciences (My brother Greg just over a month ago!)
