Before we dive in deep spreading the word about next week's Spencer Krug album release show, let's pause to celebrate how fantastic was last Friday's Fred Frith with Phipps Pt with Devils Club concert. I dare say, this was the most avant-experimental event we have done, and based on the turnout and happy attendees, there will be more. All three acts melted minds in totally different ways. Here is a snap of the next day, after a few hours of CVGBs rookie bird nerd Keith getting schooled by life long winged expert Fred.
Black Mountain ’s Amber Webber & Stephen McBean are twinkled to announce a smatter of coastal BC Twin Oscillations duo performances. Come out ‘n’ come down. ❤️

Let's get the ball rolling on another amazing show! Yes, Spencer Krug (pronounced Kroog), co-leader of Wolf Parade, driving talent of Sunset Rubdown and Moonface, also of Frog Eyes and Swan Lake...now solo, showcasing a mix of new and older material, and coming to the Comox Valley Curling Centre Friday May 15!
For our next show we can still barely believe the UK's Fred Frith is coming to the Comox Valley. Beyond being a leading member of Henry Cow, Art Bears, Massacre, & Skeleton Crew; Fred Frith has played a major role on albums by and with Brian Eno, John Zorn/Naked City, Richard Thompson, Bill Laswell, the Residents, KK Null, Tom Cora, Derek Bailey, Sonny Sharrock, Henry Kaiser, Hans Reichel... This list could go on for pages. Understatement: Fred Frith is a legend of improvised and experimental music, and beyond being one of the world's most iconic and most reknowned experimental guitar players, he is a truly insprirational artist. Tonight! CVGBs hosts a select few events a year, and tonight (Saturday Aug 2) is one of them. Toronto's Jennifer Castle is a supremely talented singer songwriter and guitar player, been a short list nominee for the Polaris Prize (for best album made in Canada all genres combined), has had her music featured in The Bear, and been heralded "a National Treasure". In preparation for her upcoming tour with Destroyer; Jennifer and band are bringing their talents to the Comox Valley Curling Centre tonight. Friends Amy Muloin Music and The Alley Flowers, and Pranatricks Andrew Clements will get things going. It's a long weekend, with other entertainment choices today, but this one is a safe bet. Jennifer and Amy's sets will be after the Great Lake Swimmers wrap up at the Filberg too!
CVGBs returns from winter hiatus for a night of glorious space heaviosity headlined by ATO Recording Artists from Los Angeles & Vancouver BLACK MOUNTAIN, the now approaching legendary psych rock, genre challenging cosmonauts.
Touring with Black Mountain are Vancouver’s Heavy Trip. A local support act will be named shortly...
