2 weeks since "Distress" Music Video Directed by @danaisimou & @diololit Link in Bio Distress discusses toxic masculinity. A comment on patriarchy and the imbalanced pathogenic view between the two sexes. Filled with frustration and anger, inspired by common stories between femininities but also personal experiences. Dark, loud, repetitive and aggressive, defined by it’s lo-fi, chamber aesthetic and produced with physical and analog mediums, "Distress" is attempting to make an experimental statement about the current feminine experience. The video was shot in July by an analog VHS camera in my home studio. Having spent half of my childhood there, I’ve seen this beautiful place changing but also trying to stay pure. After the wildfires of 2021, the scenery changed completely. This song was written years prior, on the island of Gavdos, speaking of another kind of death. 🌒 Danai Simou - New Moon 🌘 “New Moon” is my debut EP release. Defined by its lo-fi, dark, experimental, chamber aesthetic, this album is a narration of the stages of an intimate relationship. Love, fear, disappointment, anger and a restart. Five love poems transformed into soundscapes made of broken pianos, live recordings, violin orchestrations and analog synths, partially recorded live. Repetitive, melancholic, sarcastic and aggressive. All songs are written and performed live by me. I want to deeply express my gratitude for everyone who was involved during this process. My extremely talented music partner @amberclockmusic , who recorded, co-produced/arranged and played electronics, synths and a little bit of bass, the wonderful @onerandomkalliopi for her majestic violin orchestrations, my dear @asylum_promises for some heavy beats and synths and Panos Papastergiou on the drums. Moreover, @cv.reflection , for his amazing work on mixing and mastering this album, and @kontanj / @semitonelabs for catching my aesthetics and designing the digital cover and cassette.
