“The Avalanche of Our Demise” official video is out now! Directed by our friends at activist art collective INDECLINE, it pairs the song’s sharp edges with a pointed message about income inequality and the systems that keep people from opportunity. Watch the new video now at the link in our bio. From our album Devourer, out now on Run For Cover Records . @thisisindecline #cursivetheband #devourer #runforcover

Hey! I, Tim Kasher, am touring this Spring - out supporting the ever so unique album, “Sponges Of Experience”, an experiment wherein I wrote an entire album over a 4 day weekend! I’ll be performing plenty of hits and deep cuts from the past 30 odd years, SWIPE ➡️ if you’d like to see what I’ve been preparing for the setlist! DON’T SWIPE if you’d prefer it to be a surprise! Playing 4 shows with @thursdayband in the Northeast! “Sponges Of Experience” comes out May 22 on vinyl and CD - not on streamers, baby! DEEP CUTS - “Bloody Murderer” off The Ugly Organ Just a real nice, real good song that got overlooked by a bunch of other songs on the record. I really appreciate the guitar/cello breakdown that ushers in the end. How baroque?? We never played this song live until we did an Ugly Organ celebration tour in 2014. And that’s pretty much the only time you’ll see this song on a setlist: when we’re playing The Ugly Organ. Enjoy!!

DEEP CUTS - Excerpts From Various Notes Strewn Around The Bedroom Of April Connolly, Feb 24, 1997 What a mouthful. This song was released on “8 Teeth To Eat You”, a split we did with the Japanese band, Eastern Youth, back in 2002. These songs were all part of the Ugly Organ sessions, and this song very well could’ve ended up on The Ugly Organ but we thought it would be a good nugget to include on this split instead. Props to old bud Gretta Cohn ( @grettamindy ) for leading on cello on this track!!

DEEP CUTS - Making Friends And Acquaintances Not as easy to pull a ‘deep cut’ off of Domestica, as it was generally well received, but here we are with Making Friends And Acquaintances. DID YOU KNOW this song was initially intended for the band Braces which existed in the late 90’s? It was a band made of Tim Kasher (hi) Clint Schnase and Kim Heiman, they only recorded 5 songs and that was that. After they disbanded, this song was cherry picked to help fill out what would become Domestica.

DEEP CUTS - Absence Makes The Day Go Longer This is the final track on Cursive’s “The Storms Of Early Summer: Semantics Of Song”. Wow, what a mouthful, both album and song title. That’s the 90’s for ya. DID YOU KNOW: this was intended to be the opening track on our first album, “Such Blinding Stars For Starving Eyes”!! There was a mix up at the studio and we lost the recording, so instead of re-recording it we figured it was meant to be and moved forward without this song. Crazy, as this song - at the time, anyway - really felt like it defined who we were and what our mission was, so of course we wanted it to open our debut album! Strange that it got cast off to the final track of album two, but we were fickle young adults and had moved on from it, I’m sure. Anyway, we still love this song, Check it out if unfamiliar xx

DEEP CUTS - The Knowledgable Hasbeens This lil guy was initially a b-side on our very first 7”, dubbed the Disruption 7” for having two songs on it with the word disruption in the title. I don’t think this song really ever made the rounds… I’m sure we used to play it live back in the day, I mean, we only would’ve had a handful of songs to choose from. It found new life on the “Difference Between Houses And Homes” comp record we released in… 2005? Ish? But I fear that even on a comp of b-sides it was still… a deep cut. But I’ve always loved this song!! The earliest taste of harsh self-deprecation and the beginnings of a career in taking myself to task. And hey, that’s Matt Maginn singing the chorus!! You don’t get to hear that every day.

DEEP CUT - “Dirt Of The Vineyard” off our debut album, Such Blinding Stars For Starving Eyes Was always a fan of this song. I recall us not being sure if it should make the record because it was so low key. We didn’t really know what we were doing. Still don’t? When’s the last time you checked out this record???
