The “Crimson Myths” residency aims to find a voice in this ever chaotic world. Whether to have moments to ‘unleash that inner demon’ or ‘truly be yourself’ amidst the ever-changing dystopian-like society. To play tracks that are diverse or beyond: from having Filipino roots; inspired by the cartoons & anime that shaped the youths’ mentality grown up with; or just to be our authentic ‘cringe’ self to be wild & free by the music that makes us feel that way. Especially to have sets to dedicate to my roots as a Filipino residing in Hong Kong & to the fellow artists who felt like outsiders to find solace through these curated sets.
Every genres that will be curated is what inspired the Red Oni to live a more interesting life. And hoping that would also inspire listeners as well to “release that inner self/re-discover life/shift your perception”. To be that unpredictable force of nature, like a mythical creature, to create interesting vibes at the end of the day. Like art or just life (in-general): you just have to find beauty from all the unpredictability & subjectiveness. Not just in Hong Kong, but to the rest of world, one set at a time, all the outsiders and Filipinos alike to feel proud where they’re from or what shaped them who they are now.

Crimson Myths is a residency about finding your voice in a chaotic world — a space to be unapologetically yourself, unleash your inner wild, and find freedom through sound. Rooted in Filipino identity, anime‑shaped nostalgia, and outsider energy, these sets are curated as both self‑expression and sanctuary, especially for Filipinos and fellow creatives in Hong Kong seeking connection.

With music ranging from slow to fast. Chill to aggressive. Mainstream to underground. Even from afro to house to dubstep to DNB to techno to even just jazz, budots & anime OST. As well with having special DJ/artist friends and/or from the Red Oni’s Den collective tuning in to the decks every once in awhile. And aiming to bring more Original Pinoy Music (OPM) genre to Hong Kong to have our Filipino listeners feel more connected and at home than ever. Advocating of the culture I’m proud to be born from, and people deserve to listen to it too.
