When his Sitar sings but so does he! 🎤
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan playing and singing a thumri in Raag Khamaj at Columbia University @columbia
Thumri is a deeply expressive, romantic form of Hindustani music—where emotion, poetry, and gentle improvisation lead the way. What made this moment so special was hearing Ustadji’s own voice woven into his sitar performance… something he shares when he’s most inspired. We must thank the New York audience for bringing that side out of him that night!
Thank you @snehartsny for supporting this evening and @shraman_sen98 , @curaaga for bringing it together ✨
