Jake Foster and I have worked together from him barely surviving a sub 4:00 marathon attempt to start, to running a 3:29 as a training run at the Nashville marathon recently. With a personal best of 3:14, we are heading to Indianapolis this fall to take a big swing after a spring of building. We’ve been able to thrive off 4 days per week of running as we balance a busy schedule as a Dad, husband and a leading coach. A motto that I’ve thought about when creating our training outlines is “no wasted days”. See you in Indy for another fast one! @jakerfoster -Coach Adam

That 2:49 feeling! At the OC marathon, Paul Roche (@paul.roche ), coached by Coach Adam, ran an incredible race to hit a Boston qualifier & a massive personal best. And there’s a lot more in the tank. I think that it is not always the best practice to try to unpack an athletes training after big races without the entire picture, because each athlete is different. But inquiring minds want to know! So here are a few stats for the training cycle since Jan 1; -2 runs if 20+ miles, longest was 21 -weekly volume ranged from 36 to 62 - no prep race leading up to the full. What worked well? Intensity in the long runs. We rarely had back to back easy long runs. A general phase in the fall where we ended with a 30k time trial. Because of this, we knew what gaps we had, and what was working well. (And not well, for Paul, we dialed back the short intensity workouts to double down on tempo work) Being adaptable. Neither Paul nor myself would say this was an “ideal” cycle, but we got the result. How? By staying grounded, not overreacting, and being patient when adjustments needed to happen. If you never have to adjust your plan before a race, you actually might be in trouble. -Coach Adam

How exactly did @dimvladi run a 29 minute PR at the Hudson Valley Marathon? He checked all the necessary boxes- training consistency, discipline, desire, hard work, and intentional coaching. But the finishing touch on his preparation was definitely the fuel. GO GELS by @bpnsupps most certainly contributed to Dimitri’s rockstar performance. HUGE CONGRATS! *********************************************** coach: @jennyc_runs_615

For most of you spring marathon season is over. What next? If we have fall half marathon or marathon plans marathon plans, my strong suggestion is this: let's work on increasing running economy through some neuromuscular stimulus. Let's work on getting a little bit faster. Let's lean into some fun during these warm summer months. Run a 5K! Run a 10k! Jump in a random race on the track if you want! Have fun, stay hydrated, and provide a productive stimulus that will leave you lean, mean and fast when the big autumn block starts again! Go One More. Y'all go be good.

From 4:59 ➡️ 3:28 🤯🔥 Let me introduce you to what consistency, grit, and belief can do. When @runfreeforever18 began working with @coach.paige , her marathon PR was 4:59. Their first race together? 4:21 — a 38 MINUTE PR. Next one? She broke 4 with a 3:56. And last weekend… she ran a 3:28. That’s a 91 minute PR in just 1.5 years. 11:24/mile ➡️ 7:56/mile. That’s over 3 minutes PER MILE faster. But here’s what makes this even more impressive… Kirsten works full-time, runs 55+ miles per week, cross trains AND strength trains 2–3x/week. 5am? She shows up. 8pm? She shows up. Tired? Busy? Doesn’t matter. She makes it happen. Every cycle, every race, she kept building. Not just speed, but belief. This didn’t happen by accident. This is what happens when you stack the work, stay patient, and refuse to settle. We are beyond grateful to have her on the team and watch her chip away at her limits. Because…WHAT LIMITS?! Next stop: sub 3:20… and chasing that Boston Marathon dream 🦄✨ ********************************************** @runfreeforever18 coach: @coach.paige

🚨BONUS EPISODE ALERT!🚨 When dear friend @amanda.e.martin ran a 2:34 at the @eugenemarathon this past Sunday I HAD to have her on the podcast (even though she’s not a “mother runner”). This is NOT because of how FAST she ran, closing with a mind-blowing NEGATIVE SPLIT, but because I know her journey of all the ups & downs & twists & turns over 8 YEARS to get to this day, this Olympic Trials Qualifying time. These past couple months something shifted in Amanda’s approach to the sport. Wit the guidance of her coach @jdcunningham97 she started having FUN. Sure, she made tweaks to her training & nutriton (& we go into that) — but she decided to do this for the JOY vs. the desire for VALIDATION is when those numbers started falling. 🩷Listen to our RAW, unedited convo wherever you listen to podcasts. 🩷

What. A. Day! On a crisp, clear morning in Tracktown USA @amanda.e.martin ran with the pack, full of belief, and tap over the face of her watch. To run from within. At mile 20 she checked, realized today was her day, and charged home like a tidal wave. Amanda’s tenacity, talent, and endurance in the sport is remarkable. We can’t wait to have her on the show soon! Congrats Amanda, you were made for the marathon. ❤️‍🔥
