During Black History Month, we gathered at @mofad for O’Kra and The History That Binds event. In collaboration with @drinkokra , we came together to talk okra, ancestry, diaspora, and the wisdom our ancestors left in the soil and on our plates. There was laughter. Connections were made. Conversations unfolded that reminded us food is never just food — it’s memory, migration, survival, and joy. Thank you to @drinkokra , @mofad , and everyone who showed up, supported, and sat in community with us. 🎥 The full conversation is now live on YouTube. Watch it via the link in our bio. #blackhistorymonth #eatokra #blackfoodculture #historythatbinds

This Black History Month, we’re launching History That Binds 2: Carried Forward. It’s a celebration of the everyday magic of an ingredient that refuses to be put in a box — just like us. Okra crossed oceans now it lives in our kitchens, our curl routines, our gumbo, our gatherings. It’s history, memory, survival, and creativity all in one. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing stories that spotlight the richness, versatility, and cultural legacy of okra across food, beauty, and community — and how it continues to shape us. Happy Black History Month. Cheers to finding your okra. Link in bio for the full package. 🖤 #HistoryThatBinds #CarriedForward #BlackHistoryMonth #EatOkra #BlackFoodCulture

Ahead of Black History Month, we’re continuing to celebrate okra and the traditions that still feed us today. To help honor okra and the history and diaspora it binds, we’re sitting down with Anna Cobb, the visionary behind @drinkokra , and Anthony Edwards Jr., Co-founder & CEO of EatOkra, for a conversation on how our ancestors’ wisdom continues to nourish us—literally and figuratively. We’ll dive into the stories, culture, and heritage connecting our past to today’s wellness movement, alongside light bites and refreshing samples of O’kra Sparkling Water, taking place in @mofad ’s beautiful Brooklyn space. ✨ Space is limited—RSVP to save your spot: /e/okra-the-history-that-binds?utm_source=eatokra&utm_medium=internal&utm_campaign=OkraHistoryEvent_2025 (Link also in Bio)

“Flava pepper. Not pepper flava.” @chefjasonhoward of @flavapepper chats with @briannenicole18 about why Caribbean cuisine has been misunderstood for too long. It’s not just about the heat—it’s about the FLAVOR that comes first. In this inspiring 3C conversation, Chef Jason shares his journey from homelessness in Barbados to judging the same culinary competitions he was once told he wasn’t skilled enough to enter. He discusses what “modern Caribbean cuisine” truly means to him, the valuable techniques passed down through generations, and why Caribbean food deserves its place in fine dining. We did it again! 🎉 EatOkra has been selected as the @appstore App of the Day, making it our second App of the Day feature this year. What makes this meaningful isn’t just the recognition itself, but what it represents: more visibility for Black-owned restaurants, more discovery for diners, and more momentum for the work our community has been doing for years. Thank you to everyone who uses EatOkra, supports our partners, shares the app, or simply believes in the mission. Your support shows up in moments like this. If you haven’t already, download EatOkra or share it with a friend: /apps (Link also in Bio) #OnTheAppStore #eatokra #foundoneatokra #supportblackownedbusiness
