This Health & Safety at Work Day we are celebrating our fantastic SHEQ team, processes and technology we implement at Cubby Construction to raise health and safety standards across our workforce. From regular training, site inspections, toolbox talks and quality processes, we drive a culture where safety and compliance is prioritised across our business. We use SafetyCulture as a mobile platform where colleagues can record, log and track close calls, accidents and any potentially unsafe situations that need addressed. It works well across multi-site operations, allowing users to instantly record any issues with photo and video evidence, safe in the knowledge it goes into a system where it will be followed up and acted upon. Used across multiple sites and teams, the SafetyCulture platform has created a single source for improving visibility and compliance to drive consistent safety standards. @safetyculturehq #WorldWHSDay2026 #SiteSafety #HealthandSafety #SafetyCulture #ConstructionSafety

𝐂𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 We are delighted to announce that Cubby Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the long-awaited regeneration of Annan Harbour in Dumfries & Galloway, with works on the £15.65 million redevelopment set to begin next month. Annan Harbour Action Group selected Cubby Construction to deliver the project, a milestone which marks the start of a transformative new chapter for one of the South of Scotland's most historic waterfronts. The project will draw upon the specialist expertise of other businesses within Cubby Group. Cubby Joinery will manufacture bespoke timber elements, including walkways, the Harbour Master’s hut, a bird hide and the ‘ramphitheatre’. Cubby Plant will supply plant, safety fencing, site offices and welfare facilities. Laidlaw Building & Scaffolding will provide both internal and external scaffolding, while skilled stonemasons will ensure that all stonework is completed to reflect and preserve the site’s heritage character. The redevelopment will breathe new life into Annan's historic harbour basin and the adjacent Georgian sandstone warehouse, transforming them into a vibrant destination for local people and visitors alike. Facilities will include a visitor centre and café, maritime heritage centre, event space, leisure lagoon, training and retail space and accessible nature walks along the Ministers' Merse, a stretch of land reclaimed after more than 30 years of abandonment. 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 / 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 This week we’ve been proud to celebrate Women in Construction Week, finishing with International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March – a great opportunity to recognise the talented women helping shape the built environment across the UK. The number of women joining the construction industry continues to grow, and we are lucky to have ladies across Cubby Construction who bring fresh perspectives, skills and leadership across roles from site and engineering to design, planning, safety and support services. There’s still more to do, so it’s important we keep supporting and encouraging the next generation into the industry. This year’s International Women’s Day message, “Give to Gain,” is a great reminder that by sharing knowledge, mentoring others and creating opportunities, we build a stronger and more inclusive industry for everyone. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInConstruction #GiveToGain #ConstructionIndustry

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our latest project at Curwen Hall Park in Workington. Combining heritage renovation with new-build elements, the project included a new-build café, greenhouse buildings and the careful refurbishment of an existing pottery workshop, including structural and internal upgrades. Drainage and surfacing works were also carried out across the site to improve access and usability. This project will not only provide an inclusive, family-friendly destination in the centre of Workington, but it will bring together all of West House’s social enterprises, giving them the spotlight that they deserve. West House is a charitable membership organisation, with over 400 care and support staff supporting over 200 adults and over 150 children at home and in the community. #projectcomplete #construction #ukconstruction #cubbyconstruction #cubbygroup #westhouse

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 | 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 As National Apprenticeship Week comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate the next generation of talent shaping the future of construction. From traditional techniques to new technologies, today’s apprentices are building the foundations of tomorrow’s workforce. Today we’re shining a spotlight on our Level 2 Joinery apprentice, Leo Laurie. Reflecting on his journey so far, Leo said: “I really enjoyed design and technology at school, and after doing my work experience at Cubby Construction I really wanted to carry on working here.” He added: “I have been at Cubby Construction for one and a half years now and I really like seeing the products when they’re finished. It makes me feel very proud to see what I’ve made.” Recently, Leo was nominated for Apprentice of the Year at Kendal College - a moment that made Joinery Operations Manager, Lynne Thomson, incredibly proud. She said: “We’re so pleased for Leo to be nominated for Apprentice of the Year. His hard work, attitude, and commitment to learning shine through every day, and this recognition is truly well deserved.” Apprentices bring energy, curiosity, and a real drive to learn. In return, they gain hands‑on experience, mentorship, and a pathway into a skilled and rewarding career. #NAW2026 #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #Joinery #ConstructionCareers #SkillsForLife

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 | 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 Unlike workshop-based roles, site joinery places apprentices at the heart of live construction projects. Every day brings a new environment and the opportunity to see how their work contributes to the bigger picture. From installing doors, frames and staircases to fitting skirting, architraves and bespoke timber features, site joinery apprentices develop the practical skills needed to deliver high-quality finishes on active sites. Site joinery Apprentice Reegan Corless commented: “A site joinery apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to apply what I learn in college directly on site. Being in a live working environment has really built my confidence. Every job is different, and I like seeing the finished result knowing I’ve helped install it properly.” Working alongside experienced tradespeople, apprentices build confidence, problem-solving skills and an understanding of site standards. This includes health and safety, coordinating with other trades and maintaining quality under pressure. Investing in apprenticeships ensures we continue to deliver skilled, high-quality work across our projects. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #SkillsForLife #JoineryApprenticeships #FutureSkills #CubbyConstruction

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 | 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 Joinery requires precision, patience, and experience and it is central to the quality of work delivered at Cubby Joinery. Through the Cubby Construction apprenticeship programme, joinery apprentices gain hands-on experience on live projects. Working alongside skilled tradespeople, they develop practical skills and build a long-term career rooted in craftsmanship. Speaking about his journey so far, joinery apprentice Oscar Farquharson said: “I’d previously worked as a site joiner, but I really liked the idea of working on bespoke jobs and doing handmade craft through this apprenticeship. I still get to earn money, whilst learning bench joinery and I really like the team culture”. Passing on joinery skills is about sharing knowledge, pride in the job, and the standards that define quality craftsmanship. Cubby Construction’s joinery apprenticeship programme ensures these skills are preserved, developed, and passed on to the next generation. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #SkillsForLife #JoineryApprenticeships #FutureSkills #CubbyConstruction #CubbyJoinery

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 | 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 Kai is a joinery apprentice at @cubbyconstruction , and as part of National Apprenticeship Week, he’s sharing what a typical day looks like for him whilst learning on the job to develop the practical skills that will stay with him throughout his career. Kai said: “The day usually starts early on site, which can be anywhere from Lancaster to Southwest Scotland. Whilst travelling to site, we have a brief of the day ahead and what I need to do". He added: "These tasks are often 1st and 2nd fix joinery like building stud walls or fitting frames and panels. I am currently focusing on fitting doors and ironmongery, panelling, shelving, architraves, and skirting boards. I am really enjoying the work, and I think the skills I am learning will serve me well in the future". Kai’s experience reflects what apprenticeships are all about. Learning by doing, being supported by experienced tradespeople, and building skills for life while earning from day one. By investing in apprentices like Kai, we’re helping to ensure specialist joinery skills continue to be passed on to future generations across Cubby Construction. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #SkillsForLife #JoineryApprenticeships #FutureSkills #CubbyConstruction #CubbyJoinery
