We’re heading to Queenstown.
CTRL Space will be opening a studio in mid-2026, expanding into one of New Zealand’s most active hotel and tourism markets.
With strong visitor demand and a significant pipeline of hotel and hospitality developments underway, Queenstown continues to attract both operators and investors. We’re seeing that momentum firsthand through our conversations and the projects we have in play, and we want to be in the heart of it.
A local presence means we can work more closely with developers and operators, get involved earlier, from masterplanning through to delivery, and help shape projects as they grow in scale and ambition.
We’ve shared more on why we’re making the move, and what we’re seeing across the hotel sector, in our latest Hotel Magazine feature article, which is linked in the comments.
There’s a real sense of escape built into Bravo. Extensive planting and considered landscape design, generous alfresco zones and carefully selected furniture pieces work together to soften the scale of the venue, creating intimate pockets to settle into.

Bringing Ayrburn to the Auckland marina.
Working with Winton, Bravo marks the first urban outpost of the Ayrburn precinct, translating its established design language into a new, waterfront context. Familiar in feel, but shaped by its setting.

For your sunlit morning coffee stop to your sunset evenings that open out toward the marina, the venue unfolds as a series of considered, connected spaces. Much more than a place for dinner and drinks, it offers a layered experience that shifts in pace and atmosphere from morning through to late.

Moodboard 176 - Kōkako Commerical Bay - by @ctrl.space made from Custom Marble Cleanstone - 100% recycled plastic milk bottles, labels and packaging as vertical counter fronts.
Stainless steel, drawn from a material language more commonly found on the water, it introduces a coastal edge.
Alongside Ayrburn wines, it anchors a broader connection. Bringing the spirit of Queenstown to the Auckland waterfront, tying vineyard and harbour into a single experience.

Softness plays a defining role in shaping the experience at Bravo. Within a vast, open footprint, layers of materiality and form work to bring the scale back to something more human.
Curtains, planting, and carefully positioned joinery create moments of enclosure without ever fully closing the space in. Texture sits against texture - timber, upholstery, and stone, softening the harder architectural edges.
The result is a series of intimate pockets within a larger whole. Spaces that feel considered, comfortable, yet intrinsically connected.

It’s not often we pause long enough to see the full picture.
This short reel captures a handful of projects we are working on right now across Australia, New Zealand and Vanuatu. From waterfront venues to neighbourhood locals, and considered refurbishments to multi-faceted hotels.
Different briefs. Different scales.
A consistent commitment to thoughtful, human-centred design.
Working across regions keeps us sharp. It challenges assumptions, expands perspective and reinforces what matters: clarity of concept, material integrity and spaces that feel as good as they function.
