TODAY'S FEATURED COMIC ART GI JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO VOL. 1 TPB COVER ARTISTS: CHRIS MOONEYHAM [ @ctmooneyham ] CAF GALLERY: ALBERTO GONZALEZ In the current trend of resurrecting franchises from the late 20th century, Skybound has taken the lead by partnering with the toy company Hasbro on their properties Transformers, MASK, and GI Joe. This featured trade cover by Chris Mooneyham was published as the first trade collection for the ongoing A Real American Hero title which continues the story Larry Hama has been writing for over four decades as opposed to the Energon Universe title which is a new continuity altogether. Here we have depicted many of the classic heroes and villains with the Cobra leaders Serpentor, Cobra Commander and Dr. Mindbender posed ominously in the top half while below them a squad of Joes including Duke, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, and Stalker charge into battle. "I don't play around with [redesigning characters] a whole lot. I guess Serpentor Khan I got to play with a little bit.," Mooneyham told the Talking Joe podcast in an interview. "But as far as like designing stuff, there's not really a whole lot of opportunity other than just sort of bringing my own flare to something."
