Trees remain as witnesses. What was once rooted in place survives instead through gesture, repetition, atmosphere, and the quiet persistence of memory across generations. The work does not reconstruct loss directly. It follows what remains after - the emotional and psychological conditions shaped by exile, absence, and the fragile act of re-rooting elsewhere. Fault series 2026 // Not the same sea By Robin kane And there was a sea. It felt like it knew us already. Like we were late. For being there. No one wanted to be the first one to touch it. Because then it would know we arrived. A wave came and touched our shoes. Just the tips. Like it was checking us. My father jumped in first. He came back quieter. He smiled, but it didn’t reach us. I put one foot. Then I forgot if I had two. I thought maybe I could float if I stopped thinking. My mother thought she was calling me. I couldn’t hear it. She was calling the child she wished I was. The sea stopped moving. Or we did. It’s the same mistake. My sister folded herself smaller. We could still hear her. We all stood in a line.
