Our Christmas Tree Lane lighting ceremony was truly magical, and seeing our community come together again meant more to us than ever. It’s been a difficult year for all of us, and having our community back together brought comfort, strength, and hope. A heartfelt thank you to our vendors, community partners, and sponsors for their continued support, and to the CHP, Sheriff’s Department, LACoFD, LACDPW, and Supervisor Kathryn Barger for helping keep our event safe and welcoming. We are also incredibly grateful to Disney for coming out and supporting us this year. The lights will be on from 5:30 PM to midnight every night until January 7, 2026. Wishing everyone peace, healing, and a warm holiday season. 🎄 Video Credit: @ginge.productions

Altadena's 105th Christmas Tree Lane lighting Saturday marked the fire-ravaged community's largest gathering since the January Eaton fire killed 19 residents. The ceremony featured a minute of silence for the dead, while longtime residents shared raw emotion about losing their homes and memories. Disney employees, many who lost homes in the fire, helped restore lights across the historic cedar-lined street, supporting the community's road to recovery. 📹 @markpottslat Read more at the link in bio. Today marks one year since the Eaton Fire. A moment that forever changed our community. While we were shaken and torn, we were never broken. The strength, resilience, and unity of our neighbors carried us through. The lights of Altadena will continue to shine brightly. At Christmas Tree Lane, we are filled with gratitude and joy that we were able to light the Lane once again. Sharing this cherished tradition with our community has been a powerful symbol of hope, healing, and togetherness. Today also marks the final night the lights will be on! If you have not already seen the lights, we highly encourage you to do so. We remember what was lost, honor how far we’ve come, and look ahead with determination. We are still here. We remain strong and together we will rebuild.

Christmas Tree Lane 📸 @nytimes . In January, the Eaton Fire nearly erased Altadena. This fall and winter, I spent time with neighbors bringing Christmas Tree Lane back — a century-old tradition that survived even as the houses around it burned. Many of the volunteers had lost their homes. Some were just moving home again, while others were starting over entirely. Together, they re-strung the lights anyway — drawing over 15,000 people on opening night. Link in bio for the full photo essay, published in The New York Times.

For more than a century, Altadena community members have worked together to decorate hundreds of deodar cedars along Santa Rosa Avenue for the holidays. 🎄 A beloved holiday tradition, Christmas Tree Lane has survived decades of neighborhood change and draws crowds from throughout Southern California. In January, Altadena faced one of its biggest challenges ever, when the Eaton Fire blazed through much of the neighborhood. But miraculously, these beloved trees survived–and thanks to the community, the are once again adorned with twinkling lights for their 105th holiday season. Thank you to @ctl_altadena and @altadenahistoricalsocietyca for sharing this story and archival images with us! You can visit Christmas Tree Lane yourself now through the first week of January.

“In this Great Turning we shall learn to lead in love” Tonight’s Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Ceremony in Altadena offered a moving reminder of how deeply this community shows up and cares for one another. Before the lights were illuminated, Edward James Olmos invited the crowd to observe one minute and nineteen seconds of silence. Thousands stood shoulder to shoulder, honoring the 19 lives lost in the devastating Eaton Fire. When the silence lifted, the Pasadena Waldorf High School Chorus sang ‘We Shall Be Known’ by Karisha Longaker—a song that urges us to lead with love, cherish the good company we keep, and return to “the well,” the source of our creativity, connection, and resilience. Our gratitude to PWS High School Music Director Ted Masur and our amazing students for offering such a heartfelt contribution. #pasadenawaldorf #altadena #altadenastrong #christmastreelane #waldorfeducation #pasadena

On December 6th, we will gather during the Lighting Ceremony for a Moment of Silence & Candlelight Vigil to honor the 19 lives lost in the fire. Our Memorial Tree will glow in white, with 19 green lights for those we remember. We’ll pause for 1 minute, 19 seconds, followed by a tribute from the Pasadena Waldorf School Choir. When the music begins, raise your phone flashlights as a gesture of unity and hope. 💚 Leave a message of remembrance or encouragement at the CTLA booth — together we heal.
