Laten we het hebben over mentale gezondheid en artiestschap. In de tijd waarin we leven is het pijnlijk zichtbaar geworden dat artiestschap vaak hand in hand gaat met mentale problemen, verslaving, geweld, seksuele misbruik, machtsmisbruik en ga zo maar door!
Naar onze mening heeft dit te maken met een groot gebrek aan ondersteuning voor artiesten op het gebied van o.a. mentale gesteldheid, het maken van verstandige keuzes en hoe om te gaan met je inkomsten. Want al deze aspecten komen er ook bij kijken wanneer je ervoor kiest om beroepskunstenaar te worden. Er is al langere tijd een kloof ontstaan tussen kunst & cultuur, welzijn en educatie.
Maar wat nou als we het holistich bekijken? Wij geloven dat al deze velden nauw met elkaar verbonden zijn. Wanneer er minder word geïnvesteerd in één van de drie domeinen ontstaat er een lekkage bij één van de andere twee. Mede om deze reden hebben wij als Stichting Connect the Dots Movement ook Het Positiviteits Netwerk opgericht. Dat is een netwerk van holistisch georiënteerde coaches, therapeuten, ervaringsdeskundigen en hulpverleners die ondersteuning bieden binnen het totale spectrum. Van persoonlijk of financieel advies tot bemiddeling in sociale relaties en het zijn van een luisterend oor.
Ons doel is om bij te dragen aan het creëren van de nieuwe generatie positieve rolmodellen binnen de kunst & cultuur, welzijn en educatie. We zien een wereld voor ons waarbij je op jonge leeftijd naast je studie genoeg tijd kan en mag investeren in je mentale gezondheid, omdat dit als iets cruciaals word gezien. Dit kan de kans verkleinen dat je als artiest op een later moment tegen onverwerkte traumas aanloopt, in een onverwachte burnout of depressie valt, onverwachte boetes moet afbetalen of geen overzicht hebt op je potentiële toekomst.
Het kan het leven als beroepskunstenaar veel duurzamer en rendabel maken. En daarmee heeft het direct invloed op de volgende generaties, want die zien hen weer als rolmodel. Oftewel, tijd om de norm van gezond artiestschap omhoog te brengen. 💎

Hip-hop influences millions of young people every single day.
It shapes language, identity, and behavior.
But what stories are they hearing?
At CTD Movement, we believe music is never “just entertainment.”
It’s a powerful force that can build or break, heal or harm.
That’s why we’re creating space for hip-hop that uplifts, inspires, and connects.
Conscious hiphop is about awareness and awakening.
It speaks on real issues: identity, spirituality, mental health, social justice, and community power.
We support artists who tell their authentic stories – without being forced to conform to mainstream trends that often glorify destructive behaviors.
Our mission?
To make positive role models visible and accessible.
To give young people music that shows them they can be authentic, powerful, and successful.
The challenge is that there’s no infrastructure for these artists.
Many festivals and venues won’t book them, afraid there’s “no audience.”
But how can artists ever build an audience if no one gives them a chance?
We believe there IS a market and a hungry community for music with depth – so we’re building it, step by step.
Conscious hiphop isn’t a reaction against other genres.
It’s an addition.
An alternative menu.
An addition to the playlist for a new generation of listeners.
Beat by beat.
Lyric by lyric.
