A little less than a week ago, I whispered in your ear that I will love you until my last breath and then I watched you draw yours. There are moments of longing where I am reminded of the hole that will never be filled but to my surprise I find that I am often smiling uncontrollably because of the joy your memory brings. It has been such an honor being your son and I am grateful I experienced a love I did not think possible: unconditional but/and affirming. And like all beautiful things I must appreciate it with its finity.
