We look forward to partnering w/ College Democrats to improve equitable voter representation in Sac's elections process!
Sac's current process marginalizes young voters & cuts them out of the local civic process... Adopting #RCV will improve equitable representation & voter inclusion!
CDSS Hosts Meet and Greet with Congressional District 6 Candidates | Pt.2
The newly drawn Congressional District 6 is the frontline against Republican gerrymandering efforts nationally. CDSS hosted three campaigns in the University Union on April 1st, which gave students the opportunity to interact with the candidates.
CD6 hosts a wide array of Democratic-candidates, all of whom wish to earn the party nomination. Tyler Vandenberg and Martha Guerrero were in attendance. Dr. Richard Pan’s campaign was represented by his Campaign Manager, Daisy Stein.
Transportation, foreign policy, and access to healthcare dominated the discussion. Despite holding differing views, the candidates treated each other with respect and kindness. The candidates vowed to support the other in the General Election to remove long-time Republican Kevin Kiley, who recently registered as an Independent.
Tyler Vandenberg positioned himself as an anti-Trump, progressive candidate. Martha Guerra cited her connection to the district as the mayor of West Sacramento. Dr. Richard Pan is a former State Senator who represented the Sacramento area.
CD6 was created by Prop 50 to counter gerrymandering efforts in Texas. CD6 is one of the five Congressional seats drawn to switch from Republican to Democratic control in the upcoming Midterms. CD6 encompasses West Sacramento, Natomas, Citrus Heights, Roseville, and Rocklin.
CDSS is holding a General Meeting today at 5 p.m. in the University Union.
