During this month of Mary, we celebrate her powerful role in the church, the life of Jesus, and the history of non-violent resistance to imperial oppression. Far from the gentle, quiet woman we so often hear of, Mary - or Miriam - was a revolutionary. One in a line of many female prophets, her words and actions were powerfully anti-empire and anti-oppression. 💪 Female movement leaders today continue her legacy of radical, prophetic witness. 🙋‍♀️ 𝗧𝗮𝗴 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲! THIS FRIDAY: March with us for May Day - International Workers Day and the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker!📣 💪 #PopeFrancis called work, "the door to the dignity of a man." Catholic Social Teaching lifts up the Dignity of Labor as a core right of the human person, and we are called to defend and demand all workers be respected. Alongside @icirr_il and many others who share our commitment to the dignity of workers everywhere, we will stand with all workers, especially our immigrant community members who face the threats of ICE/DHS on top of the unsafe working conditions, low pay, wage theft, and other violations that have long been rampant in our workplaces. 🌹Consagrando el Barrio🌹⁣ ⁣ CSPL has been working with the seminarians at Mundelein Seminary for the past few months! They have developed their own Mundelein Migrant Ministry group and through this effort, they have been hosting Marian processions to consecrate certain neighborhoods to Mary for her protection and prayers for our migrant sisters and brothers. In early April, they hosted one at Santa Maria del Popolo Parish in Mundelein and had almost 200 faithful attend! Following an injunction in our favor in the lawsuit against DHS, we were able to send delegations into the Broadview ICE facility each day between Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday, bringing pastoral care, comfort, and the sacraments. Members of these delegations shared both heartbreaking and inspiring experiences from their time with the detainees. #solidarity #HolyWeek #feetwashing #communion #ICE

“In the Eastern Church, there is an icon of the Anastasis that shows Jesus pulling Adam and Eve up from Hades, with all of humanity behind them. @benwildflower does a remake of this Resurrection where Jesus is freeing all the imprisoned and detained.
