Activism-driven curator Claudia Schmuckli (
@cschmuckli ) is one of the multi-disciplinary cadre of Design Champions who will support this year’s Young Climate Prize cohort through seminars and mentorship over the course of the program.
Claudia is the inaugural curator in charge of contemporary art and programming at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and a co-founder of the San Francisco Bay Area Collective Art+Climate Action (
@artandclimateaction ).
Since 2020, A+CA has united and supported museums, galleries, and artists in their efforts to understand and address the art sector’s climate impacts, while supporting and producing exhibitions and programs that foreground the climate emergency.
At the Fine Arts Museums, Claudia curated several exhibitions on the intersection of environmental and social justice, including Specters of Disruption (2018), Uncanny Valley: Being Human in the Age of AI (2020), Wangechi Mutu: I Am Speaking, Are you Listening? (2021), Judy Chicago: A Retrospective (2021), and most recently Lee Mingwei: Rituals of Care (2024).
