🌟CanStutter is proud to introduce our new ‘Participate in Research’ page. Here, you will find research opportunities approved by recognized ethics committees, all dedicated to advancing our understanding of stuttering. 🫂Why is Partaking in Research Important? 💡 1. Stuttering is highly diverse and unique, you help ensure that new therapies or neurological findings account for the wide variety of ways people actually experience stuttering. 2. You help in advancing neurological understanding. 3. When you share your lived experience, you provide the evidence needed to advocate for better accommodations in schools and workplaces, helping to dismantle the stigma that stuttering is linked to intelligence or anxiety. 4. You become an active contributor to the global body of knowledge. If you are a researcher and wish to advertise your study for recruitment through CanStutter’s website, newsletter, and social media platforms, please submit an application for consideration. If you know of anyone that meets the requirements and is eligible to participate in these researches, please share and spread the word 🗣️ 🔗 Please find the link in our bio to access the page. #stutteringresearch #stutteringawareness #stutteringsupport #stuttering #stutteringlife

🎙️Presenting our podcast! Lisa Wilder and Katie Miller have teamed up to create the CanStutter Podcast. We hope these shows will entertain, inform and delight our audiences! Available on Spotify and Youtube, you can catch Episode One where Lisa interviews scholar and author Tess Casher ✍️ Tess Casher spent most of her childhood in Whitehorse, Yukon. She stuttered from a young age, and got help when she entered the treatment program at the Institute for Stuttering Research in Edmonton, Alberta – an experience that inspired her to write and publish a novel aimed at young people about a junior high school girl who stutters. 🔗 Please find the link on our bio to watch the first podcast on YouTube! 💚 #stutteringlife #stutteringsupport #stutterawareness #podcastlaunch #stutteringtips

@singwellorg runs 2 different groups for their research. One group participates in singing with a choir over the course of 10 weeks and the other is a ‘control group’. If you agree to participate, you would be participating in the control-group aspect. Participation in this part of the study is entirely virtual. Eligibility: To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be 18+ years old, have stuttered since childhood, and not be diagnosed with a hearing deficit, neurological condition (eg. epilepsy), or neurodevelopmental condition (eg. developmental language disorder). You must also be able to participate virtually on a computer or laptop with stable internet connection. Research Tasks: You will participate in two research task sessions, one at the start of a 10-week period, and one after the 10-weeks. These sessions will take approximately 2 hours to complete and include a wellbeing survey, a self-led online rhythmic task, and a one-on-one meeting with a researcher to conduct some speech tasks over a video conferencing software. All tasks will be completely virtual. Compensation: You will be compensated with $10 per hour of research tasks you participate in (2x 2.5hrs = $50). If you are interested: Email [email protected] with your expression of interest. #csastuttering #research #stutter #stutteringchoir
