Check out our latest documentary with the excellent reporting of @albertoincognito on behalf of @amazonuworld who always seems to get access to the most inaccessible areas and isn’t afraid to ask the difficult questions. He is accompanied by cinematographer @t_laffay who observes and tells stories through his lens, resulting in spectacular images that draw you in as an audience.
On behalf of @cruzomundo I had the honor of editing the piece and shaping a big part of the narrative.

👇 The film takes you inside Colombia’s Amazon, where armed groups like the Comandos de la Frontera no longer fight to overthrow the state — they control it regionally. From Putumayo, they impose ID systems, regulate movement, enforce their own justice, and use local communities as political leverage.
At the center is Marín, a guerrilla commander turned negotiator, whose group controls vast coca fields and has gained leverage as President Petro races to secure peace.
Ironically, although they patrol and profit from this system, they may also be the key to leading a way out of it.

At @cruzomundo , we’ve been deep in the storytelling — shaping the narrative and editing a documentary built around the on-the-ground investigation of three brave local journalists in Bolivia’s Amazon.
Illegal logging there thrives through corruption, violence, and the blind eye of global markets.
Produced by @cruzomundo and @AmazonUnderworld , in collaboration with @raibolivia , the film follows these journalists as they uncover how timber marked as “legal” fuels an industry sustained by threats, corruption, and impunity.
At Cruzomundo, we believe in amplifying local voices and investigations — bringing critical, underreported stories to global audiences through collaborative storytelling.

Allí, la tala ilegal prospera gracias a la corrupción, la violencia y la mirada indiferente de los mercados globales.
Producido por Cruzomundo y @amazonuworld Underworld, en colaboración con @raibolivia Bolivia, el documental sigue a estos periodistas mientras revelan cómo la madera etiquetada como “legal” alimenta una industria sostenida por amenazas, corrupción e impunidad.

Waking up here feels like stepping into a film sometimes— birdsong, a morning breeze, the sunlight coming through.
I tried to capture a bit of the feeling in these postcard-like images. (no sound fx were added)
Behind the scenes, we’ve been quietly transforming the finca.
The architect is sketching the first designs, and with Daniel and Erika — the caretakers — we’re experimenting with small-batch creations: orange cakes, marmalade, and cocktails with orange juice and hierbabuena.
The orange harvest is near, and the land is beginning to offer its gifts.

We just spotted our first paprika.
Red beets and papas criollas are on the way too.

Despertar aquí a veces se siente como entrar en una película: el canto de los pájaros, la brisa de la mañana, la luz del sol entrando.
Intenté capturar un poco de esa sensación en estas imágenes tipo postal (sin efectos de sonido añadidos).
Mientras tanto, hemos estado transformando la finca en silencio.
El arquitecto ya está esbozando los primeros diseños, y junto a Daniel y Erika — los cuidadores — estamos experimentando con pequeñas producciones: tortas de naranja, mermelada y cócteles con jugo de naranja y hierbabuena.
La cosecha de naranjas se acerca, y la tierra ya empieza a ofrecernos sus regalos.

Acabamos de ver nuestro primer pimentón. También vienen en camino remolachas y papas criollas.
La visión? Que cuando te quedes aquí, puedas salir al jardín, recoger lo que necesites y saborear algo tan fresco y vivo como el aire de la mañana.

Raudal Punta Valenton 🐟
Por el río Inírida, los raudales, corrientes muy fuertes que atraviesan tramos rocosos, aumentan el costo y el tiempo de viaje. Las lanchas livianas deben ser arrastradas por la orilla para evitar el riesgo de hundimiento. Transportar carga o cosechas en grandes cantidades cuesta más de lo que se gana, por lo que los minerales de alto valor, que incluso en pequeñas cantidades son muy pesados, abundantes en la región, dominan la economía local. Que la minería haya penetrado en zonas protegidas y opere en la ilegalidad pierde relevancia ante la ausencia de otras oportunidades económicas para las poblaciones locales. Encima, los raudales actúan como una barrera natural para las embarcaciones pesadas de la Armada y por ende su presencia.

One of my biggest dreams for the past five years has been to own a beautiful finca in Colombia.
The plan is to create a sustainable farm where we grow our crops organically, use renewable energy and water sources, and provide workshops on #future #skills and #storytelling on the farm.
In 2019, Heidy and I began our journey, but when COVID hit, we had to put our finca plans on hold.
A year ago, we started looking again, and during our weekends, we visited many fincas.
Some lacked a nice view, others had very bad access roads, or were too far from the village.
Then, at the beginning of 2024, we found this gem close only
a few hours from the capital, Bogotá.
After visiting it several times and bringing friends and experts, we decided to go for it!
Yesterday, we received the keys and walked around for the first time as owners!
The previous owner also left us his:
🐮Cows
🐕Dogs
🐈Cats
🥭Mango, orange, mandarin, guanábana, and borojó trees
And a part of the finca they left us is a beautiful piece of untouched forest. 🦎
Needless to say, this marks the beginning of a very exciting new chapter.
We’ve never owned a finca before, thankfully, a great family with two kids is helping us care for the cows and keep the finca running smoothly. 😊

This time we discussed The Future Of Audiovisual Productions in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Our guests represented a diverse range of fields, including film festivals, animation, the Ministry of Culture, and AI and VFX specialties, among others.
