first time playing SLC since our Disembodied cover set back in 2022. happy to be back
It’s been over 20 years since we first crossed paths and I honestly had no clue what was in store for me.
We booked A18 and because of it having members of outspoken and XchorusX, we thought the show was going to be insane and huge. It was only a year or two into booking shows and in my mind these names still held the weight like they did when they were active bands.
The show wasn’t a huge success but about 150 kids. Mostly my friends and the circles I ran with showed up as excited as I was. I didn’t know what to expect but Isaac and Mike were nothing like I thought they would be as my main interactions with any California kids at the time were bands like 18V, throwdown, countervail. These hardcore veterans took us in and embraced Salt Lake City hardcore and sxe at a time when we were the poster children of what was wrong with the scene. Mike and Isaac encouraged us to do more, be more, say more at a time when we all felt like we were dead end kids.
I cherish the memories of sharing many stages, intimate conversations, and even more bellyful laughs trying to outdo each other in the joke department that we bonded over with Isaac. Im humbled and grateful I was able to call you my brother and look to you at times when I needed you most. A soul that will never be forgotten as the music and words will live on even if the physical cannot.
