Almost 20+ years later (May 1985) I met Cage quite calmly during the interval of "Merce Cunningham Dance Company and John Cage: From New York" I told him how much I was enjoying the sounds he responded with something like Yes they are rather good aren't they ? and then promptly and spontaneously I offered my hand. We shook hands, yes your reading this correctly I shook hands with John Cage! regretfully and stupidly I did not shake hands also with the then new musical director of the Merce Cunningham Company Takehisa Kosugi (fluxus master) who was standing next to him with a large smile on his face ...
