Misty Spear didn’t set out to build a 25-year career at Crossland. It all started with a conversation. From her early days at the lumberyard as an Office Manager, to moving into accounting, then stepping over to Crossland as a Project Accountant in training, and now Treasury Manager, a role she’s held since 2017… it’s been a ride! Misty is steady, hardworking, and never afraid to do what it takes to get the job done (read the article for the fence story 😅). We’re proud to have Misty as part of our team and grateful for everything she’s poured into this company over the last 25 years. Congrats on 25 years, Misty, and thank you for all you’ve done along the way! #BuiltByOurPeople (🔗 in bio to read Misty's story)

Sometimes an aerial shot with the American and Texas flags says it all! A lot has changed out here in the last few weeks on the McKinney Stadium Center PH III project in McKinney, TX! With two industrial tilt-wall buildings totaling about 160,000 SF going up piece by piece. These progress pics are showing work completed between March 17th and May 4th, and it’s always impressive looking back at how much can happen in a matter of weeks! #TexasDivision

Sometimes the best moments on a jobsite are the ones nobody planned. No one asked this crew to stop and paint “Happy Mother’s Day”. They just did it. Which says a lot about the kind of people they are. Behind every early morning, long day, and late night on a project is usually someone at home holding things together and giving them a reason to keep pushing forward. Moms do a whole lot of that. To all the moms out there… thank you for the sacrifices nobody sees, the support that never runs out, and the love that keeps families moving forward. We hope you felt celebrated all weekend, but more importantly, we hope you feel celebrated always. #MothersDay

Final stop on #SafetyDoug’s Safety Big 5 tour… PPE. Hard hats. Safety glasses. Gloves. Hi-vis. Hearing protection. They might seem simple, but they’re often the last line of defense when something unexpected happens. PPE doesn’t stop hazards from existing, but it can stop a bad moment from becoming a life-changing one. Wear it the right way. Wear it every time. No shortcuts. As we wrap up Safety Week, the goal stays the same as it always has... everybody goes home safe to the people waiting on them. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

Next stop on Safety Doug’s Safety Big 5 tour… Fall Protection. Falls don’t give second chances. Most falls happen during the “this will just take a second” moments, and that’s exactly why fall protection has to be 100% on, 100% of the time. Think. Plan. Act. Stay tied off. Use the right anchor points. Don’t rush the work. Because at the end of the day, the goal is simple: everyone goes home the same way they showed up. #constructionsafetyweek

Everything really IS bigger in Texas… and this is just another example of that. Out at the @sunsetampmckinney , our crews just set the first massive truss. A single piece weighing around 500,000 lbs. That kind of lift isn’t typical, even across huge stadium projects. Most structures are built in smaller sections. This one though? Set in one shot. It's not just about size. It’s precision. Something that massive isn’t dropped into place, it’s guided in with fractions-of-an-inch accuracy. Everything has to line up perfectly while it’s suspended in the air. It’s like threading a needle with a piece of a building. This amphitheater is shaping up to be something to experience. It’s one of the largest covered outdoor venues of its kind in the U.S. and moments like this are what it takes to get there. One truss down. Another right behind it. And still just one piece of the whole picture! Proud of the crew getting it done!

Line of fire injuries happen when your body ends up in the path of energy, moving equipment, shifting materials, pressure, gravity… it’s not bad luck, it’s something we can see and control. So...know where the energy is. Know where it could go. And most importantly, keep yourself out of its path. This is next up in our Safety Big 5: Line of Fire. Step back. Don’t use your body to stop or guide it. Make eye contact. Don’t assume. Because taking one second to recognize it can prevent a life-changing injury. Look out for each other. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

Next up in our Safety Big 5: Communication We talk a lot about what to do on a jobsite but a big question is: why does speaking up matter to you? Because most incidents don’t happen out of nowhere… they happen when someone saw something, had a question, or noticed a change and didn’t say anything. If you don’t know, ask. If you see something, say something. If something changes, speak up. Because communication isn’t just part of safety, it’s how we prevent close calls from becoming injuries. Look out for each other. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

Safety Week starts now. #SafetyDoug is back… and he’s kicking things off with our “Safety Big 5”, the things we focus on every day to make sure everyone goes home safe. First up: Smith Driving. Driving is something you don’t think twice about until you have to. It’s one of the most dangerous things we do daily, and it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being aware, predictable, and thinking ahead. Aim High in Steering Get the Big Picture Keep Your Eyes Moving Leave Yourself an Out Make Sure They See You Drive smart. Look ahead. Leave yourself an out. At the end of the day, our “Safety Big 5” isn’t about checklists or policies. It’s about people. The ones we work with and the ones waiting on us at home. #constructionsafetyweek

This project? Built by people learning it, living it, and putting in the work every single day. That’s what our Apprenticeship Program is all about. Real jobsite experience. Learning by doing. Backed by NCCER-certified training for anyone ready to go all in on the trades. And yeah… they’re showing up: 125 active apprentices 55 graduates since 2024 15,000+ training hours 1,041 certifications completed Plus 50 more who stepped up and graduated this past November. This isn’t just training. It’s the start of something bigger, the next foremen, the next leader, the ones running the work someday. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek

25 years doesn’t just happen. It’s built. Anthony Brown has been doing exactly that since day one. From growing up around construction to being handed a project his first day here, he’s never waited around to figure things out… he’s always just gotten to work. What stands out most about Anthony isn’t just the work (and there’s a lot of it). It’s the consistency. The trust he’s earned. The way he leads teams to show up, do their part, and get it done together. And when the hard hat comes off, life slows down a bit. 27 years of marriage, two kids, a grandson, and time spent at the lake, fishing, or with family and friends. Built the same way. Thank you, Anthony, for 25 years of doing what you said you’d do. Every time. #BuiltByOurPeople (read Anthony's story at 🔗 in bio)

This 1940s air raid siren, originally used during World War II, was hoisted off the roof of the Historic Northeast Lofts project in Kansas City. The plan is to restore it and keep its story alive. Staying on theme of this project as a whole. Taking the old Hardesty Federal Complex and turning it into something new, without forgetting where it started. When it’s complete, it’ll include 395 apartment homes (83% affordable), a public market, and spaces built for the community, plus sustainable upgrades across the 22-acre site. Old history, new purpose. Proud to be part of a project that carries both forward! #KansasCityDivision (📸 by John Ames, Superintendent)
